On January 17, 2022, the start-up activity of South Korea's SK30GWh power battery project was held in Yancheng Economic Development Zone, Jiangsu.

According to reports, the Yancheng Base of SK Power Battery is the largest industry leader in the global layout of South Korea's SK Group, with a demonstration and leading role. The SK30GWh power battery project started this time is the largest foreign investment project in Yancheng in recent years. It is planned to be completed in December 2022, and the equipment will enter the site in January 2023. After it is put into operation, it will generate an annual sales of 20 billion yuan.

This is SKI's fourth battery factory in China and the first 100%-owned factory by SKI. SKI's other three lithium battery factories are located in China, in Changzhou (7GWh), Yancheng (10GWh) and Huizhou (10GWh). Among them, the Changzhou plant is a joint venture with BAIC Motor, and the Yancheng and Huizhou plants are joint ventures with Chinese battery maker EVE.
