On August 19th, Minister of Transport Li Xiaopeng met with Ethiopian Transport Minister Daguerre Moggs by video in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on issues of common concern. Xu Chengguang, Chief Planner and Director of the Comprehensive Planning Department of the Ministry of Transport, attended the video meeting.

Li Xiaopeng pointed out that Ethiopia is an important transportation node country for Asian-African international trade, and cooperation in the field of transportation has always been an important part of the traditional friendly cooperation between China and Egypt. The Ministry of Transport of China supports Chinese transportation companies in developing business in Egypt. It is hoped that both parties will work together to deepen and expand bilateral transportation cooperation under the framework of the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and make due contributions to strengthening the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership and building a deeper China-Africa community of shared future.

Morgues congratulated China on its tremendous achievements in poverty alleviation and expressed gratitude to China for its support in the construction of the transportation infrastructure in Egypt. She pointed out that the Egyptian transportation department attaches great importance to strengthening friendly cooperation with the Chinese Ministry of Transport. It is hoped that the two sides will deepen communication and exchanges in the fields of transportation infrastructure construction, road safety, rail transit, and learn from each other, continuously improve the capacity and level of transportation development, and push the transportation cooperation between the two countries to a new level.
