Qatar Petroleum Company (QP) has awarded Técnicas Reunidas an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for onshore facilities related to the Qatar North Oilfield expansion project. The initial value of the contract is estimated to exceed 500 million U.S. dollars.

According to the terms of the contract, Técnicas Reunidas will be responsible for the expansion of existing liquid product storage and loading facilities. Liquid products include condensate, propane and butane. In addition, the Spanish EPC contractor will handle the expansion of the monoethylene glycol import facility in the Ras Laffan Industrial City and other supporting facilities and pipelines related to the North Field expansion project. The initial scope of the contract must be executed within 41 months.

The scope of the EPC-3 package awarded to the company includes the construction of liquid product decomposition lines, lean gas pipelines, expansion of Ras Laffan Terminal Operations (RLTO) product storage and loading facilities, expansion of monoethylene glycol storage and transfer facilities, and CO2 injection wellheads.
