The west extension project of Metro Line 17 starts from Dongfang Lvzhou Station, the terminus of the existing Line 17, walks westward along the south side of the Huqingping Highway, crosses the G50 highway base section, and then shares the G50 highway after crossing the barrier port. Go west along the south side of the G50 highway and finally Xicen Station. The length of the entire west extension is about 6.6 kilometers, and the line is laid by overhead. The construction of elevated lines and elevated stations in this project does not involve underground lines, and therefore does not involve environmental control equipment such as wind pavilions and cooling towers. In addition, the vehicle base, main substation, control center, etc. all use existing facilities. Among them, the vehicle base uses the existing Zhujiajiao vehicle base on Line 17, and at the same time uses the control center of Line 17 in Puhuitang C3 Building and the existing two main substations of Caoying Road and Xujing on Line 17, which do not involve new construction or reconstruction.

The design of the west extension vehicle of Line 17 and the speed per hour is: A-type vehicle is proposed to be selected, with a maximum operating speed of 100 kilometers per hour, 6-section grouping, and the traction power supply system adopts the DC1500V contact rail power supply method consistent with the existing line 17.

The west extension project is also an extension of the passenger flow corridor of Line 17. After its completion, it will further expand the service scope of the city area line, and further exert the role of the passenger transport trunk line of rail transit line 17 to form a series of Xicen Science and Technology Innovation Center, Zhujiajiao, Qingpu New Town and Hongqiao The fast passenger transportation channel of the hub is conducive to supporting the construction of the Xicen Science and Technology Innovation Center and the commissioning of the Huawei base, which has become an important transportation guarantee.

It is reported that after rail transit line 17 extends westward to Xicen, there is hope to continue to Jinze. In the future, Suzhou Metro Line 10 will extend eastward and Shanghai Metro Line 17 will shake hands in the Demonstration Zone Shuixiang Living Room.
