The south extension project of Wuhan Heping Avenue, which was built by China Railway 14th Bureau Group, has a total length of 3042.5 meters, of which 1,390 meters are in the form of super-large-diameter shield tunnels, passing through the ancient city of Wuchang, the Yellow Crane Tower Scenic Area, Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Snake Mountain and other key areas , Is a controlled project that runs through the Shunjiang Passage in Wuhan. It will completely open up the "broken road" along the Yangtze River Highway in the ancient city of Wuchang, which is of great significance to improving travel and alleviating traffic pressure in Wuhan.

China's largest two-way six-lane tunnel

According to Zhang Jianyong, head of the Heping Avenue South Extension Project of China Railway 14th Bureau Group, the biggest feature of this tunnel is that there is an ancient city above and a ruins below. It is received by Lounan Road. There are more than 500 old buildings and many celebrities’ residences on the route. The most famous one is the Yellow Crane Tower. If calculated according to the projection distance, the tunnel route is only 5.4 meters away from the Yellow Crane Tower, which is the largest in the scenic area. The buried depth is 55 meters, which requires us to reduce the construction impact to almost zero.

To this end, the builders of China Railway 14th Bureau Group jointly developed and customized the "Mir" mud-water balance shield machine in response to the complex problems of the tunnel. The equipment is 136 meters in length and 4,700 tons in total weight.

At the same time, China Railway 14th Bureau Group has used its advantages in the construction of large shield tunnels across the river and over the sea for many years, invited internal and external experts to prepare and demonstrate special plans, formulated emergency plans and conducted drills, and will widely apply smart tunneling and visualization in shield tunneling. Construction technology: Deploy observation points for sensitive structures along the line, monitor settlement data in real time, adjust shield tunneling parameters in a timely manner, effectively control ground settlement, and ensure safety, environmental protection, and efficient advancement.

When the tunnel was digging under the Snake Mountain, the rock was extremely hard with a strength of 200 MPa, and the hardness of ordinary angle steel was only 238 MPa, which was equivalent in hardness. Moreover, the tunnel is only 10 meters away from the tunnel of Metro Line 5. If the shield machine shakes too much during the rock breaking process, it will disturb and affect the newly built subway tunnel. There is still karst development in the section, and the karst cave rate exceeds 41%, so the shield machine The control of machine construction parameters is extremely difficult.

The builders have adopted targeted designs and optimizations in the main drive of the shield machine, cutter heads, cutters, and advanced geological drilling. Equipped with a retractable main drive, the hob is equipped with a new load detection sensor, which automatically checks the load pressure of the shield machine tool to protect the tool and bearing; equipped with an advanced geophysical prospecting system and a drilling and injection integrated advanced geological drilling rig, which can discover the karst cave in the front of the cutter head in advance And fill it in time.

It is reported that Heping Avenue is connected to Heping Avenue in the north and Xinwu Jindi Road in the south. It is mainly responsible for the traffic function of north-south transit vehicles, effectively connecting the ancient city of Wuchang and the Wuchang Binjiang business district, adding an urban artery to the development of Wuhan.
