On September 1, 2021, with the smooth laying of standard sleepers on the pre-set roadbed, the second phase of the China Civil Engineering UAE Railway Project Abu Dhabi completed the laying of 100 kilometers of the main track.

The second phase of the UAE Railway project is a newly-built passenger and freight railway with a design speed of 200 kilometers per hour for passenger transport and 120 kilometers per hour for freight transport. The line starts at the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, passes through 5 emirates including Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah, and ends at Fujairah Port, with a total track length of about 650 kilometers.

Since April 30, 2021, the second phase of the UAE Railway project was officially laid, the track project department has insisted on both epidemic prevention and control and safe production. On the one hand, 100% nucleic acid testing is performed on Chinese and foreign employees, and the epidemic situation is strictly investigated to ensure that the construction personnel are “safe” and minimize the impact of the epidemic on the construction; on the other hand, the construction organization is continuously optimized, and the construction While ensuring safe production and construction quality, we will try our best to catch up with the schedule. The project department has carried out technical research and solved a number of desert railway track construction problems such as the large temperature difference between day and night and the high risk of rail expansion. 7 sets of train and machine maintenance equipment, and more than 400 sets of other types of equipment. In order to set up this "desert Changhong", a lot of manpower and material resources have been invested to promote track laying.

In order to ensure the track laying schedule, the track department worked day and night. Because the highest temperature during the day in the UAE in summer is nearly 50 degrees Celsius, night construction has become a beautiful landscape in the vast desert of the UAE. At night, wherever the track is laid, there will be nearly a hundred meters of light illuminating the sleeping desert, and a long steel dragon cruising on the foundation of the main line, heaving sleepers and steel rails. Unit rail joint welding, mechanized ballast maintenance, unit rail joint release and locking, etc., are connected in an orderly manner, and the construction site is full of tension and busyness.

The track project department uses a full set of Chinese-made construction and production equipment to lay the tracks, and has been tested by the top design and supervision team. It has set a track sleeper production plant construction, sleeper production has passed international inspections, officially started track laying, and the main track has been laid over 100 kilometers. Waiting for the good results one after another has been highly affirmed by the owners, and established the benchmark position of China Railway Construction and China Civil Engineering in the field of local track construction in the UAE, demonstrating the wisdom and strength of China’s railway construction.
