Chinese e-commerce going global

At present, the two governments are cooperating closely in various fields under the comprehensive strategic partnership. In November 2017, Cambodia and China signed a memorandum of understanding on e-commerce cooperation, aiming to exchange opinions and promote business cooperation policies and capacity building under the Belt and Road Initiative. Development in the field of e-commerce. With the attractiveness of natural resources, young labor force and new investment laws to provide business convenience, the Royal Government of Cambodia has been attracting and welcoming investors from all over the world, including Chinese investors.

Mian Senwan expressed the hope that through this forum, Chinese investors, especially entrepreneurs in Fujian, can understand the potential of countries along the Belt and Road, look for opportunities in Belt and Road projects, and invest in many areas, especially e-commerce.

Zhu Lian, the second-level inspector of the Department of E-commerce and Information Technology of the Ministry of Commerce, pointed out in his speech that in 2020, facing the double pressure of the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic and the downturn of the world economy, China’s e-commerce is going against the trend and is promoting consumption and stabilization. It has made positive contributions to foreign trade, poverty alleviation, employment expansion, and promotion of the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries. It has become an important channel for residents' consumption, an innovative format for foreign trade development, and a key driving force for economic growth.

To jointly respond to the global challenges posed by the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the "Silk Road E-commerce" partner countries stand in the same boat and watch for help, jointly promote mechanism construction, and in-depth exchanges and support in cross-border e-commerce, digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises, and digital poverty reduction. Combining location advantages and resource endowments, local governments have strengthened docking with partner countries, and actively promoted partner countries’ products to connect with China’s consumer market through e-commerce.

The Ministry of Commerce will continue to promote the “Silk Road E-commerce” to deepen and become more practical, share the dividends of e-commerce development with partner countries, and add new momentum to the recovery of the global economy. We look forward to more outstanding e-commerce companies optimizing their overseas layout, introducing high-quality products, and driving industrial development; we look forward to all provinces and cities taking full advantage of their geographical advantages and industrial characteristics, actively participating in "Silk Road e-commerce" cooperation, and jointly expanding new areas and new channels.

According to Inspur big data monitoring statistics, in 2020, the province's online retail sales reached 624.23 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 24.7%, which was 15.8 percentage points higher than the national growth rate, ranking 6th in the country; the online retail sales of physical goods reached 547.33 billion yuan, This is an increase of 7 percentage points over 2019, which has promoted the recovery of consumption; rural online retail sales rank third in the country, and the growth rate of agricultural online retail sales is 8.6 percentage points higher than that of the country, which has helped rural revitalization. The province's cross-border e-commerce transaction volume for exports under customs supervision exceeded 24.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of nearly 22 times.

Fujian has close economic and trade cooperation with countries and regions along the Belt and Road, and is highly complementary. In the first half of 2021, the import and export trade volume between Fujian and the Belt and Road countries was 291.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 39% (11.8 percentage points higher than the national level).
