Recently, Suwell, member of the Advisory Committee of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and Chairman of the Marmara Strategy and Social Research Foundation of Turkey, accepted an exclusive interview. He said that the Belt and Road Initiative has not only promoted interconnection and economic development of countries along the route, but also promoted mutual understanding among peoples of all countries and brought a stable "road to peace."

The Marmara Foundation of Turkey has held an "Asia-Europe Economic Summit" every year since 1998, inviting people from all walks of life in Asia and Europe to gather together to discuss measures to promote the economic development of Asia and Europe, hoping to revitalize the ancient Silk Road . When President Xi Jinping proposed the Belt and Road Initiative in 2013, the Marmara Foundation was the first non-governmental organization in Turkey to actively respond. Chairman Suweier recalled: "I did not respond to the Belt and Road Initiative from a political perspective, but responded positively to the Belt and Road Initiative from the perspective of all mankind. I think the Belt and Road Initiative is a peaceful initiative."

In the past eight years, Suwell happily recalled his participation in the Belt and Road International Cooperation Summit Forum twice. In particular, Turkish President Erdogan delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the first forum and asked Chairman Suwell as a guest. I deeply feel the huge potential for cooperation between Turkey and China under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. Over the past eight years, the Belt and Road Initiative has produced fruitful results. Chairman Suweier said that he seemed to see the busy scene along the ancient Silk Road. "The Belt and Road Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping eight years ago has reproduced the prosperity of the ancient Silk Road today. The Silk Road has returned to our lives."

Suwell believes that while the Belt and Road Initiative has played a huge role in realizing the interconnection of countries along the route, driving the economic development of countries in the region, and promoting people-to-people and cultural exchanges, it has also promoted the people-to-people bonds of all countries through the growing trade and people-to-people and cultural exchanges. The region brings stability and is a veritable "road to peace". "In short, the Belt and Road Initiative is an initiative that advocates peace and stability. It will open the door to a new international order."

Suweier said that after the new crown epidemic raged around the world, people realized that the world has become an indivisible whole, and that no matter how developed a country is, it cannot be alone. The principles of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits advocated by China for the joint construction of the Belt and Road, as well as the concept of supporting multilateralism, are the requirements of the times and the requirements of peace. "I believe that in the near future, these principles proposed by China will be accepted as a peaceful initiative by all countries in the world." Editor/Tian Zengpeng
