According to RenewableUK's research, if all completed, the global offshore floating wind power project pipeline will currently exceed 54GW. The pipeline includes projects from the early development stage to full operation. More than half of these are in Europe (30.9 GW), and the UK leads the world with 8.8 GW. Ireland has 7.7GW in preparation, Sweden has 6.2GW, and Italy has 3.7GW. Norway, Spain and France also plan to deploy floating wind on a large scale.
The world's first floating wind farm, Hywind, is the second floating project in Scottish waters since 2017. It is fully operated by Kincardine. This week, the British government announced a special budget of 24 million pounds (28 million euros) to support floating projects in the next CfD auction starting in December.
A significant number of floating wind farms are expected to appear in the process of leasing ScotWind by Royal Property Scotland, which has received more than 70 application results, and the overall installation of up to 10GW of new fixed foundations and floating wind power capacity.
Crown Estate confirmed in July that the new 300MW floating project has been approved for the next stage of evaluation in the Celtic Sea (located between southwest England, Wales and Ireland). The most important global players in the floating wind power sector outside Europe are Australia with 7.4GW, South Korea with 7.1GW and the United States with 5.5GW of pipelines. Taiwan has 1.5GW and Japan has 1.3GW. China and Saudi Arabia account for the least proportion of LSO planning projects.
The study has been prepared by the RenewableUK project INTE LL igence group and is currently being announced on the first day of the float of the industry association at the Offshore Wind Power Conference and Exhibition in Aberdeen. At the event, the Scottish Government Cabinet Secretary Michael Matheson said: “Scotland’s huge deep water potential is expected to be a crucial step for our transformation.” “Scotland has led the world in floating wind. We will do everything in our power to maintain our support and ensure that we stay at the forefront of this innovative technology."

In the ongoing ScotWind leasing process, it is possible to change the potential in the energy sector in Scotland, including the transfer of oil and gas. Meet the needs of renewable energy and floating offshore wind power to make full use of it. Welsh Government Minister Julie James said: "The offshore renewable energy industry is the engine of growth in coastal communities. We are working hard to provide solutions for the rapid roll-out of this technology in Wales."Editor/Baohongying
