bp has partnered with Abu Dhabi energy companies ADNOC and Masdar to decarbonize the energy and transportation systems of the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates. The three companies will invest in clean energy and low-carbon energy in the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The three agreements signed by the two companies will allow billions of dollars to be invested in the creation of low-carbon hydrogen centers, green jobs and help the two countries get closer to their decarbonization goals.

As part of the agreement, the first project to be deployed will be the development of 2GW of green hydrogen energy between hubs in the UK and the UAE. This will decarbonize industries that are difficult to reduce emissions and help the UK achieve its goal of developing 5GW of low-carbon hydrogen by 2030. The project can also make BP's project H2Teesside the first international investment, which aims to produce 1GW of blue hydrogen by 2030. The project is expected to start operations in 2027 and is said to be the largest blue hydrogen project in the UK. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: "This is an excellent investment in the industry of the future. As we rebuild better and more environmentally friendly, we will create high-value employment opportunities across the UK."

The three companies plan to decarbonize the aviation corridor between the United Kingdom and the UAE-one of the busiest air travel routes in the world. They will explore opportunities to develop, build and operate sustainable energy and mobility solutions for cities in the UK and UAE. The first project will focus on energy efficiency and storage, clean fuel and distributed renewable energy generation.

BP and ADNOC will expand their partnership in the decarbonization of Abu Dhabi's oil and gas operations. They plan to develop carbon capture, use and storage facilities, and use advanced methane emission detection and reduction technologies. The UAE will establish an intelligent decision-making center, and digital and artificial intelligence technologies will improve operational efficiency. The British Prime Minister added: “This clearly shows that companies in the energy industry are taking the transition to cleaner solutions seriously, and it has greatly promoted the UK’s own ambitious net zero emissions goal. Our Global Investment Summit will be held later this year. It will attract more exciting investments like this to the UK, demonstrating that economic growth, technological progress and combating climate change go hand in hand."

The partnership will also help these three companies achieve their sustainable development goals and help the British government realize its 10-point plan for the green industrial revolution and the UAE government’s 50-principle strategy.Editor/XuNing
