Recently, the 15,000 TEU ultra-large container ship "CMA CMA CGM SAFUL" built by China Shipbuilding Corporation firstly calls at Yangshan Port. The "CMA CGM SAFCO" is the first ship built in the Belt and Road cooperation between China and France, and will operate routes to the Middle East.
On March 25, 2019, China State Shipbuilding Corporation and CMA CGM signed a contract to build 10 ultra-large container ships of 15,000 TEU. This type of ship has many advantages such as good fuel economy, less berthing restrictions at the terminal, less influence of draft, high ship stowage rate, and more competent routes. It is the current mainstream ship type in the world. Now this Belt and Road cooperation project is gradually blooming and bearing fruit.
On August 27, 2021, as the first low-carbon green ship equipped with a desulphurization tower, the "CMA CMA CGM SAFE" sailed out of the Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard and delivered it to CMA CGM Shipping. The smooth delivery and operation of the ship demonstrated the recognition of the world's top shipowners of Chinese manufacturing, demonstrated the advanced technology and capabilities of China's shipbuilding, and further enhanced the status of Chinese manufacturing and Shanghai manufacturing in the international shipbuilding market.
