In the coastal countries of the northwestern corner of Africa, the builders of the China Railway 14th Bureau will lay the first modern railway of Chinese standards-the special railway from the port of Dabilón in Guinea to the Shengtu mining area in the Winning Alliance.

Cut down the DK83+500 stumbling block

As the first project of the China Railway 14th Bureau Group to enter the Guinea market, there was little reference to any relevant experience before, and the "pioneers" who came to the scene first suffered the most. Language communication, food, clothing, housing and transportation, and the arrival of materials and equipment are not a problem. The communication is a contingency plan; food depends on boiled noodles, potatoes and mustard vegetables; travel mainly depends on the legs, supplemented by vehicles; materials and equipment are urgently coordinated at the rear, and there are multiple turnovers on the spot.

Pre-exploration

In the face of many difficulties, the builders also faced a "blocking tiger"-the task of erecting a 24-meter steel short bridge at DK83+500. This temporary bridge is the "two channels of Ren Du and Du" through which the access road is opened. Only when it is opened can the access road be connected, creating the first conditions for subsequent construction. The construction of the temporary bridge coincides with the rainy season. During the rainy season in Guinea, the torrential rains are fierce, and they are always poured down instantly. Repeated rainfall directly caused the river to skyrocket, the large-scale collapse of the foundation pit completed in the previous construction, the cofferdam broke through several times, and the construction of the bridge abutment foundation was interrupted many times.

If the temporary bridge fails for one day, the construction task of the access road will not move forward. The impact on the site is not as simple as one day or two days. In order to check the situation on the construction site on the other side, the 57-year-old deputy manager Chen Guisheng had to swim several times a day. No one at the scene didn't have a headache when encountering this "blocking tiger".

Temporary bridge construction

In order to solve this "heart disease", the project leader Yuan Xiangfu actively contacted the brother unit WAP Construction, and without any mechanical equipment, through the Chinese and Guizhou employees wading and crossing the river, manpower transportation, set up a floating "on the water" "Big box", manually transfer soil bags, sand, cement, and concrete to the other side of the river for construction. The effort paid off. With only one excavator, the construction of the soil bag cofferdam and the erection of the steel bridge were completed on site. It took two months and finally had the traffic conditions. On September 5, 2019, Yuan Xiangfu couldn't help but rejoice, and posted a circle of friends: the installation of the beret of the short bridge at the neck position is completed, the span is 24 meters, and there is no crane. You can't guess how to complete it!

Gnaw down the hard bone of the tunnel

The Gula High Guide Tunnel, also known as Tunnel No. 1, is the first tunnel of the Dasheng Railway in the Winning Alliance and the first tunnel since the Republic of Guinea in modern times. Because of its poor surrounding rock, frequent water seepage, and lack of local construction history, it is hailed as a key control project across the line. But how famous it is, the builders are under much pressure.

During the tunnel rush period, the domestic new crown epidemic broke out and the whole country was blocked. The 76 tunnel workers in emergency preparations could not enter the site, and all the materials needed on site could not be delivered on time. During that time, apart from occasionally seeing Yuan Xiangfu wearing a reflective vest sleeping at his desk during lunch breaks, he could hear his tired voice in the brightly lit conference room at night, and he could hardly be seen in the resident. Figure.

Tunnel construction

Finally, on May 21st, 45 tunnel workers went to Hong Kong along with the chartered flight of the Win Alliance. The necessary materials and equipment also arrived in Hong Kong after nearly three months of overdue, and work resumed on the spot.

When the on-site construction was improving, Yuan Xiangfu was diagnosed with malaria for the second time due to frequent visits to the site. This is commonly known as "playing a pendulum." People who have been to Africa all talk about "malarial" discoloration-from chills, repeated high fevers, body aches, and severely life-threatening. The scene has just begun to tackle tough problems, how can I fall? So Yuan Xiangfu endured the pain, presided over the meeting to determine the plan, and checked the scene to implement it.

Gedili Tunnel

In the face of tight schedules and heavy tasks, the project department organized the tunnel construction labor competition with the overall idea of "guaranteeing the excavation, fighting inverted arches, and grabbing the second lining", making overall planning, detailed construction groups, and intensifying process control. In order to complete the construction tasks on schedule, the project department adopted a variety of technical and management measures, such as 24-hour flow operation, two trestle bridges in the tunnel, the addition of car tunnels, and the conversion of two-line pump joints to straight pipes, which greatly improved the efficiency of construction and production. The construction progress of the tunnel has reached the domestic top level of single-track railway tunnel construction. The monthly excavation of the Gula high-conductivity tunnel is up to 216.4 meters, and the invert construction and the second lining construction both reach 276 meters in a single month.

The third bid section of the Yinglian Dasheng Railway contracted by China Railway 14th Bureau has a total length of 36.3 kilometers and a total of 18 villages of various sizes are distributed along the line. Before the construction of the railway started, the income level of the villagers was generally not high. It was even more difficult to find a job with a good salary.

The first batch of personnel from the project department will enter the site from April 29, 2019 until April 29, 2021. Of the more than 500 Chinese employees, very few have left the site.

On June 16, 2021, the opening ceremony of the Guinea Dasheng Railway was successfully held. The builders of China Railway 14th Bureau refreshed the history of railway construction in Guinea three times. They respectively built the first tunnel in Guinea in modern times-the Gedgili Tunnel, the longest tunnel-the Gula high-conductivity tunnel, and the current 46.5-meter-high Guinea's first tunnel. High pier.
