On September 23, 2021, the 18-meter extension pipe jointly developed by Baosteel Co., Ltd. and the National Petroleum and Natural Gas Pipeline Group was successfully applied to the mid-section (Zhongwei-Jian) natural gas pipeline project of the Third West-East Gas Pipeline Project. The West-East Gas Pipeline III natural gas pipeline project is another national-level key project that is related to the national economy and people’s livelihood and is of great political, economic, social and environmental significance. The mid-section (Zhongwei-Ji'an) natural gas pipeline of the third West-East Gas Pipeline has a total length of 2090 kilometers. After the completion of the project, the annual gas transmission capacity of the West-East Gas Pipeline System can be increased by about 25 billion cubic meters. Compared with coal, the annual carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced by 70.89 million tons. It is of great significance to transform the development mode, ensure the supply of clean energy in the areas along the route, promote energy conservation and emission reduction along the route, and achieve the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality. This is another important measure to thoroughly implement the new energy security strategy of "Four Revolutions, One Cooperation" and the "Double Carbon" strategy of General Secretary Jinping. At the beginning of 2021, the National Pipeline Network and Baosteel Co., Ltd. conducted technical exchanges on the safety improvement of oil and gas pipeline line extension pipes, transportation plans, and pipe manufacturing capabilities, which opened the prelude to Baosteel's 18-meter pipe cooperation with the national pipeline network.
