From 0:00 on September 25, 2021, the Wuxue Yangtze River Highway Bridge constructed by the China Railway Construction Bridge Bureau will be opened to traffic. The Wuxue Yangtze River Highway Bridge is a controlled project of the G220 Dongying-Shenzhen Highway crossing the Yangtze River. It is an important part of the Macheng-Yangxin Expressway in the "Longitudinal and First Line" of the "seven vertical, five horizontal and three ring" expressways planned by Hubei Province. It is constructed according to highway standards, with a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour.

The construction of the bridge started in December 2016, with a total length of 3355 meters, a cross-strait connection of 27.638 kilometers, and a main bridge of 2051.5 meters. The main span is a double-tower single-sided mixed-girder cable-stayed bridge with a main span of 808 meters. Its span ranks among similar domestic bridges. seventh.

Stand in the gravel slope of the main tower

The south main tower of the bridge has an "A-shaped" structure with a height of 233.602 meters, and the north main tower has a "diamond-shaped" structure with a height of 267.422 meters. It is currently the highest asymmetric cable-stayed bridge with the main tower in Hubei Province.

The foundation of the south main tower of the bridge is located on the gravel landslide, and the cracks in the rock layer where the pile foundation is located are developed. In order to effectively solve the construction technical problems, the builders adopted a series of new materials, new equipment, new techniques, and new technologies. During the construction of the main tower, the domestically pioneered A-type open lower corbel structure is used to effectively solve the complex problems of the force-bearing structure; the main tower uses a fully enclosed hydraulic climbing formwork system and imported VISA board formwork to ensure safe operation and improved efficiency; the bridge In the construction of the south side span, the domestically pioneered "one-in-one dual-purpose" support bracket system was used to support the surface support conversion point, reducing the constraints on the vertical and horizontal directions of the concrete, and solving the problem of early cracking of large-volume concrete.

Up to now, the project has applied for 7 patents, applied for 5 provincial and ministerial construction methods, published 11 scientific papers, and formed 2 phased research reports, providing reference for the construction of large-span mixed-beam cable-stayed bridges.

The cradle of talent training

The complex construction environment and endless technical problems have also become the base and cradle for cultivating bridge professional and technical personnel. Since the construction of the project, more than 150 management personnel and professional and technical personnel have successively participated in the construction of the bridge.

While tackling technical problems, the project has realized the "multi-win" of engineering construction, efficiency and reputation. By optimizing the construction plan of the main bridge pile foundation, the project transformed the original percussion drilling plan of the main bridge pile foundation into a rotary drilling + percussion drilling construction method, which saved costs and shortened the construction period by about 2 months. Innovative application of large-section wide cast-in-situ concrete PK box girder anti-crack control construction technology, combined with the previous ordinary side span concrete box girder construction technology, to create a construction technology of buttress bracket jumping method, saving millions of dollars. The project has won many honors such as "Safety Standard Chemical Site (Workshop)", "Excellent Organization and Management Unit", and "Safe Site" Construction Demonstration Project of Hubei Provincial Highway and Water Transport Project.

Build a "people's heart" bridge to connect the two sides of the strait, three places to get rich

After the Wuxue Yangtze River Highway Bridge opened to traffic, residents of Wuxue City, Yangxin County and Ruichang City, Jiangxi Province can cross the bridge within 5 minutes by car, ending the history of crossing the river by ferry. At the same time, several east-west expressways such as Shanghai-Chengdu, Shanghai-Chongqing, and Hangrui are connected into a network, forming a north-south expressway with Jiguang and Daguang expressways, which is an important transportation for Hubei Province to integrate into the national "One Belt One Road" initiative.
