Donghu Water Plant is located at No. 4002 Aiguo Road, Luohu District, adjacent to Shenzhen Reservoir in the east. It covers an area of 45,000 square meters. It was built in 1961 and is the first water plant in Shenzhen. The initial water supply capacity was 0.25 million cubic meters per day. After four reconstructions and expansions, the current water supply scale of 350,000 cubic meters per day has been formed. The water supply scope is the Luohu area east of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Railway (except for the Liantang, Dawang and Wutong areas) , Is one of the main water plants in Luohu District.

It is understood that 60 years ago, the water plant opened the curtain on the development of Shenzhen's water supply industry with two pressure filter tanks with a diameter of 3 meters and a daily water supply capacity of 2500 tons. The capacity expansion and renovation project of Donghu Water Plant is 600,000 m3/d, with a total investment of 2.024 billion yuan. It is constructed by Shenzhen Environmental Water Affairs Group, designed by Shanghai Municipal General Research Institute, and undertaken by Special Economic Zone Construction Engineering Group. The project includes the construction of a new 600,000 m3/d water intake and water intake pipe, conventional treatment and advanced treatment technology, and simultaneous construction of sludge treatment facilities of the same scale. After the renovation, it covers an area of 56,000 square meters and is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.

The expansion and renovation project of the East Lake Water Plant is a major livelihood project at the city and district levels.
