Saudi Arabia will allocate 4.2 billion Saudi crowns (1.2 billion U.S. dollars) to develop the local digital content industry. Previously, the Cabinet approved the establishment of the Digital Content Committee on September 28, 2021. The new entity will be responsible for taking initiatives to promote the Kingdom’s fast-growing digital content industry.

According to Jiandao.com, the committee will receive funding for 36 initiatives aimed at developing skills and creating more jobs in the fields of video games, video production and digital advertising. The Saudi Arabian Digital Government Authority has launched a new policy initiative aimed at simplifying the digital transformation of the public sector. The plan was announced at a ceremony on September 30, 2021, focusing on four pillars: participation, digital transformation, capabilities, and governance.

Ahmed Al-Soyan, the head of the Digital Government Authority, said: The Digital Government Authority has issued a new policy to provide a comprehensive government system focused on beneficiaries and simplify the digital transformation of the public sector. According to the latest report from Trends and the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, by 2030, the digital content market in Saudi Arabia is expected to grow to between 16 billion and 20 billion Saudi crowns ($5.3 billion).

The initiative to invest in video content creation is aimed at attracting major companies specializing in video content. The video investment rate in Saudi Arabia is expected to reach S$1 billion to S$1.2 billion. Video accounts for 79% of global Internet traffic. In the Middle East and Africa, video traffic has increased eightfold, and it is estimated that by the end of 2020, the region will create 169 billion minutes of video content every month.

In August 2021, Saudi Arabia approved the first regulatory framework for digital government. DGA Governor Ahmed Mohamed Soyan said in a statement: The regulatory framework developed by the DGA for digital government will be the basis for the authorities to formulate future digital government regulations. The framework includes a set of principles, strategies, standards, and user guides. Keywords: overseas engineering, international engineering construction, foreign engineering construction news

The framework is based on eight basic principles, including "one-off principle", "design number" and "mobile first". In addition, it includes the digital government policy, which enables and accelerates the sustainable digital transformation of government departments, and can successfully implement the strategic direction of digital government, the head of DGA said in a statement.Editor/XuNing
