Xuanyang Expressway is a section of the S11 line of the Yunnan Provincial Road Network Planning. The starting point is located at the provincial boundary of Yunnan and Guizhou. It is connected to the planned Weining-Weizhen (Guizhou-Dianbian) Expressway in Guizhou Province. The total length of the project is 48.198 kilometers. There are a total of 39 bridges and 7 tunnels across the line, with a bridge-to-tunnel ratio of 46.68% and a total investment of 7.105 billion yuan. The construction period is 3 years and the operation period is 30 years.

At the same time that the Xuanyang Expressway was opened to traffic, the Weining County to Weizheng Village Expressway in Guizhou Province was also opened to traffic. So far, the Weining-Xuanwei Expressway, which spans more than 70 kilometers across Yunnan and Guizhou provinces, has been fully connected. It has become one of the most convenient passages for Yunnan Province to connect Guizhou in the east and Chongqing to the north. The comprehensive exploitation and utilization of the area is of great significance for changing the backwardness of old revolutionary areas, ethnic minority areas, and mineral resource-rich areas along the way, realizing rural revitalization and regional connectivity, and for accelerating the integration of the Wumengshan area into the Yangtze River Economic Belt development strategy and region The coordinated economic development provides good transportation support.

Geological disasters such as landslides have a great impact on the construction of the whole line. During the construction process, they extensively apply new techniques and technologies, use the most advanced domestic forecasting methods to detect geological conditions, and apply artificial intelligence technology to highway pavement construction to overcome construction problems and improve project quality and efficiency. At the same time, the Xuanyang Expressway has also reduced the occupation of land and woodland and minimized the impact on the ecological environment.
