On October 8, 2021, China's first commercial development of large-scale shale gas field-Sinopec Jianghan Oilfield Fuling shale gas field cumulatively produced 40 billion cubic meters of shale gas, setting a new record for the cumulative production of shale gas fields in China. At present, the gas field produces nearly 20 million cubic meters of gas per day, which can meet the daily gas demand of 40 million households.

The Fuling shale gas field is located in Fuling District, Chongqing City. Since its development and construction in December 2012, it is now China’s sixth largest natural gas field, one of the important gas sources for the Sichuan-East Gas Pipeline, and Sinopec’s “Gasification of the Yangtze River Economic Belt” initiative Important resource base.
