On October 12, 2021, the Eighth Bureau of Hydropower won the bid for the second phase of the civil construction, metal structure, and mechanical and electrical equipment installation project of the Chongqing Wujiang Baima Navigation and Hydropower Project. The project is located in Baima Town, Wulong District, Chongqing City, with a total investment of 2.64 billion!

Chongqing Wujiang Baima Navigation and Hydropower Project

It is located in the lower reaches of the Wujiang River, in Baima Town, Wulong District, Chongqing City. It is the next step in the development plan for the mainstream of the Wujiang River. The development task is mainly on shipping, taking into account power generation. The hub project is second-class, and the scale is large (2). The project mainly constructs power stations, ship locks, flood discharge structures, water retaining structures, fish passages, Baima Wujiang Bridge and other main projects, reservoir protection, office and living rooms, on-site (outside) roads, transfer and dam-turning docks, anchorages, Proliferation and release stations, dam area landscape greening and other permanent ancillary facilities projects, as well as water and soil conservation projects, environmental protection projects, etc. The planned channel level is Class IV, the navigable structure is a 500t single-level ship lock, the effective size of the lock chamber is 190m×23m×4.7m (length×width×threshold water depth), and the design representative ship type is a 500t-class cargo ship, which will pass in one direction during the design year With a capacity of 10.605 million tons, the canalized channel will have a mileage of about 45.3km after completion. The normal water storage level is 184m, the dead water level is 180m, the check flood level is 201.93m, the uppermost navigable water level is 184m, the lowest navigable water level is 180m, the downstream highest navigable water level is 174.85m, and the lowest navigable water level is 151.06m. The total storage capacity is 374 million m3, the total installed capacity of the power station is 480MW, the single installed capacity is 160MW, and the maximum weight of a single gate is 410t. The hub project is constructed in three phases. The first phase will start in March 2021 and is scheduled to be completed in December 2024. The main construction projects include the Baima Bridge, the first-phase slope project on the right bank, the right bank road, and the open diversion channel. The second phase is planned to start in November 2021 and be completed in December 2029. The main construction projects include retaining dams, sluice gates, power stations, fish channels, left bank roads, and wharves. The third phase is planned to start in November 2027 and be completed in June 2031, mainly for the construction of ship locks and other engineering projects.
