The China-Laos Railway is an important project connecting China's Belt and Road Initiative and Laos' strategy of "turning a land-locked country into a land-union country". The total length of the line is more than 1,000 kilometers. The domestic section from Yuxi to Mohan is located in southern Yunnan, in the suture zone of the collision between the Indian plate and the Eurasian plate.
