As one of the main sources of carbon emissions, the transportation sector is essential to achieve green, low-carbon and sustainable development in the future. From October 14 to 16, 2021, the second United Nations Global Sustainable Transport Conference will be held in Beijing. In order to showcase the achievements of China’s sustainable transportation development and share the experience and practices of China’s sustainable transportation development, we have compiled the "China Sustainable Transportation Development Report" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report") to "innovate, coordinate, green, open, and share "The new development concept is the main line, showing the exploration and practice of China Communications in implementing the concept of "humanity, planet, prosperity, peace, and partnership" put forward by the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, reflecting China’s theoretical innovation and response to sustainable development. For the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, it is hoped that this "Report" can provide useful support and contributions to the Second United Nations Global Sustainable Transport Conference.

The "Report" is divided into seven chapters. The first chapter summarizes the overall progress and overall thinking of China's sustainable transportation development. Chapters 2 to 7 respectively describe the progress and effectiveness of China’s sustainable transportation from the five aspects of the new development concept, overall development and safety. The main contents include promoting the coordinated development of integrated transportation, advancing innovation-driven development of transportation, and promoting Green and low-carbon transformation of transportation, strengthen the opening of transportation and exchanges and cooperation, and let the people share the achievements of transportation development, life first and safe development.

The beautiful picture of the sustainable development of transportation in the future is slowly opening up. During the preparation of the "Report", China's Ministry of Transport and relevant departments, local transportation authorities and relevant scientific research institutes, enterprises and experts provided strong support and assistance, and put forward valuable opinions and suggestions.
