On October 15, Hungary time, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Hungary section of the Hungary-Serbia railway project was held at Kiskunhalos Station in Hungary. Hungarian Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Palkovics László, Chinese Ambassador to Hungary Qi Dayu, Serbian Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Tomislav Momirović, Chairman and CEO of Hungarian National Railway Company Homolya Róbert, Sino-Hungarian joint venture company and China Railway and EPC contractors, etc. Related personnel participated in the groundbreaking ceremony.

In May 2019, a consortium formed by China Railway Ninth Bureau, China Railway Electrification Bureau and Hungary RM company under China Railway Group became the EPC contractor of Hungary section of the Hungary-Serbia railway project after an open bidding. The groundbreaking ceremony was held at Kiskunhalos Station in the construction section of the Hungarian partner company. After the completion of the project, it will further promote the overall connection of the Hungary-Serbia Railway and the formation of an international trade channel between China and Europe, drive the development of Hungary's local economy, and vigorously promote the construction of regional infrastructure and interconnection.
