New infrastructure has been proposed as a new concept for nearly three years, and investment in new infrastructure construction has entered a period of rapid expansion. On the streets of the city, convenience stores do not require manual sales. Users scan the code to open the door and buy by themselves. After the door is closed, the system can automatically identify the selected product and complete the deduction settlement; at highway intersections, the camera automatically recognizes the license plate information and charges according to the route, which increases Operation efficiency, shorten the waiting time of vehicles...

Have you noticed that our lives are becoming more and more convenient?

This is inseparable from the rapid development of the Internet of Things. The Internet of Things refers to the infrastructure that uses perception technology and network communication technology as the main means to realize the ubiquitous connection of people, machines, and things, and provide services such as information perception, information transmission, and information processing. With the acceleration of economic and social digital transformation and intelligent upgrading, the Internet of Things has become an important part of new infrastructure.

During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, China vigorously promoted the development of the Internet of Things industry and achieved positive results. According to the data from Tianyan Check, there are more than 600,000 IoT-related companies. From 2016 to 2020, the five-year compound growth rate will reach 46.76%. "During the'Thirteenth Five-Year Plan' period, the overall scale of the IoT industry, the number of key enterprises, and the number of standard formulations have all reached the planned goals, and the scope of IoT application deployment and the overall strength of the industry have continued to improve." The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Department of Science and Technology The person in charge said.

At the same time, there are still some problems that need to be continuously resolved in the development of China's Internet of Things industry. For example, there are still shortcomings in key core technologies, the industrial ecology is not sound enough, large-scale applications are insufficient, and the supporting system cannot meet the needs of industrial development. "To solve the above problems, it is necessary to further strengthen policy guidance, pool cohesion, and coordinately promote the Internet of Things technology innovation, industrial ecological construction, application promotion and security in key areas." The person in charge said.

A few days ago, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Central Cyberspace Administration and other eight departments jointly issued the "Three-year Action Plan for the Construction of New Internet of Things Infrastructure (2021-2023)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Action Plan"), clarifying that by the end of 2023, A new type of Internet of Things infrastructure has been initially built in major cities in China, and the number of Internet of Things connections has exceeded 2 billion.

According to the above-mentioned person in charge, the specific development goals of the "Action Plan" are embodied in the "five ones": to break through a number of key common technologies that restrict the development of the Internet of Things; to cultivate a number of demonstration and driving forces for the construction and operation of the Internet of Things; A batch of reproducible, extendable, and sustainable operation service models; export a batch of industry applications with significant enabling effects and excellent comprehensive benefits; and build a complete set of standards and security systems for the Internet of Things. For example, in terms of breakthrough innovation capabilities, the "Action Plan" proposes that the level of key technologies such as high-end sensors and Internet of Things chips and market competitiveness have been significantly improved, and the deep integration of the Internet of Things and 5G, artificial intelligence, blockchain and other technologies has achieved industrialization. Breakthroughs and the continuous emergence of new technologies, new products, and new models of the Internet of Things.

After the goal is clarified, how to implement it? The person in charge introduced that the "Action Plan" clarified four major actions

The first is to carry out innovation capability enhancement actions. Focus on breakthroughs in key core technologies, encourage and support key enterprises to increase their efforts in key core technologies, and break through key common technologies such as intelligent perception and new short-distance communications. At the same time, promote technological integration and innovation, and build a collaborative innovation mechanism.

The second is to carry out industrial ecological cultivation actions. For example, focusing on cultivating diversified subjects, cultivating a group of specialized and new "little giant" enterprises in the Internet of Things field, facing specific scenarios and subdivisions, and becoming a supplier of advanced technology products and applicable solutions.

The third is to carry out integrated application innovation actions. In the field of social governance, promote the transformation and upgrading of traditional infrastructure such as transportation, energy, municipal, health and health. Promote the construction of smart cities and digital villages, and improve the intelligent level of social management and public services; in the field of industrial application, with the digital transformation and intelligent upgrading of agriculture, manufacturing, and construction as the driving force, create a batch of industry-compatible High-degree solutions and application benchmarks; in the field of people’s livelihood consumption, promote the application and deployment of sensing terminals and smart products in homes, buildings, and communities. Promote the popularization of related applications such as smart home and smart health.

The fourth is to carry out support system optimization actions. Focus on improving the network deployment, standard system, public services, security assurance, and improving the development environment.

What is encouraging is that the country's emphasis on increasing investment in new infrastructure means that the development of new infrastructure is inevitable after the epidemic. But time must not wait, opportunity must not be missed, and we should hurry up. Editor/Xu Shengpeng
