The African Development Bank (AfDB) approved a $ 271.2 million loan to build Msalato International Airport in Dodoma, Tanzania.

The project will be built in the Msalato district, 12 kilometers from Dodoma, including the construction of a high-capacity airport that will be able to accommodate the expected future growth of Tanzania's air transport industry. The new airport is expected to accommodate approximately 50,000 aircraft and 1 million passengers per year, which will benefit East Africa and the international trading network (especially business travelers and tourists) and serve more than 200 million passengers.

The construction of the project will last for more than four years, which also includes the construction of passenger buildings, runways and air navigation equipment. In addition, the project includes other related operational services, including fuel distribution companies, water supply systems, power distribution substations and fire services.

Of the total loan amount, the African Development Bank will provide $ 198.6 million and the African Development Fund (ADF) will provide $ 23.52 million. In addition, it will co-finance $ 50 million with the People's Republic of China Co-Financing Fund (AGTF) managed by the African Development Bank.

"Expanding Dodoma's air transport network and ongoing high-speed railway construction in the Central Corridor are necessary infrastructure investments that will help Unleashing and decentralizing rural space development. This will enhance the city's potential as a strategic growth pole, in line with Tanzania's national development aspirations for common growth in all regions. "

Recently, the African Development Bank has approved funding of $ 210 million to the Federal Republic of Nigeria to fund the Nigeria Power Transmission Expansion Project (NTEP1) to increase the country's transmission grid capacity and reliability. The NTEP1 project will be operated in Kano, Kaduna, Delta, Edo, Anambra, Imo and Abia to increase the capacity of Nigeria's transmission network.Editor/Huang Lijun
