A consortium composed of Otary, OceanWinds and Eneco officially launched the 487MW SeaMade offshore wind farm project in the North Sea of Belgium. This is the largest offshore wind farm in Belgium, and SeaMade marks the second wind farm built by the consortium in the country. The wind farm is operated by Otary and is equipped with 58 SiemensGamesa SG8.0-167DD8MW direct-drive offshore wind turbines, which can generate 1.8 TWh of renewable energy per year. The SeaMade offshore wind power project is formed by the merger of two previous wind farms, including 235MW Mermaid and 252MW Seastar.

Wouter Vandekerkhove, Deputy CEO of SeaMade said: “SeaMade is the largest offshore wind farm in Belgium. It was created as a result of the cooperation and expertise of various partners. The North Sea operates this important wind farm.” “OceanWinds and ENGIElectrabel hope to play a pioneering role in Belgium’s energy transition, in which offshore wind energy plays a very important role. Our goal is to have 1,000 megawatts of power offshore by 2030. "In June 2020, DEME Offshore began to install wind turbines at SeaMade offshore facilities, using DP2 offshore installation vessels. DEME signed a contract for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of the foundation, turbines, inter-array and output cables, as well as the installation of two offshore substations. The wind power project has been in operation since the end of 2020, and the last 58 offshore turbines were successfully installed on November 30, 2020. The SeaMade wind farm is expected to provide green energy to approximately 485,000 households and help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by at least 500,000 tons per year. SeaMadeOtary CEO Mathias Verkest said: “Belgium is still a pioneer in offshore wind energy. Offshore wind power is not only conducive to the sustainability and security of supply, but also has a positive impact on Belgium’s trade balance. “Thanks to this local energy, we not only We can avoid importing fuel, and we can also export our expertise to offshore wind power in Asia and the Americas. "I am very happy to participate in the first (C-Power) and (SeaMade), but most importantly, I hope that the entire industry Continuous innovation and efforts will enable us to further develop the potential of the North Sea and provide our energy supply."Editor/XingWentao,Design/XiaChangwang
