SABIC announced its global carbon neutral strategy at the first Saudi Green Initiative held in Riyadh. A high-level delegation from the company attended the event, and they discussed Saudi Arabia’s vision for addressing environmental challenges with international heads of state and global leaders in business, finance, and civil society. SABIC Chairman Khalid Hashim Al-Dabbagh said: “SGI provides an ambitious framework to achieve the common goal of a green future. He said: “SABIC has made a unique contribution to SGI’s goals and has taken bold actions to support the Kingdom’s ambitions to achieve a circular carbon economy. Our global carbon neutral strategy reaffirms our commitment to the goals of the Paris Agreement. Commitment and continuous pursuit of solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions."

He added: “As the world hopes to expand its energy structure and reduce carbon emissions, many countries are competing for status. The vision of the 2030 vision, our abundant renewable resources and the innovative progress made by Saudi Arabian companies are making the cycle a reality. , Putting Saudi Arabia in a leading position leading the new energy revolution.” During the meeting, he outlined SABIC’s key circular innovation and cooperative efforts in transforming energy-intensive industries into renewable energy, as well as its role as a World Economic Forum’s low-carbon emissions Founding member of the Technology (LCET) initiative. In this cooperation, SABIC and 10 peer companies will share the early risks and jointly invest in the development and upgrade of LCET. SABIC is also cooperating to develop the world's first large-scale chemical base operating with 100% renewable energy, and in another project to develop a solution for electric heating steam cracking furnaces, which can reduce emissions by 90%. Al-Benyan also highlighted some of the company's achievements, including the demonstration of the blue ammonia supply chain and the development of the world's largest carbon dioxide capture and purification plant. The groundbreaking facility in Jubail and opened in 2015 can process up to 500,000 megatons of carbon dioxide each year into raw materials for industrial processes. The company's certified renewable polymer series provide an important bridge for the value chain to develop from a linear economy to a circular economy.
