Spanish power company Iberdrola is developing 300MW Windanker, which is its third offshore wind power project in the Baltic Sea, with a total investment of 800 million euros. The project is expected to strengthen the company's wind power business in Germany, adding 350MW Wikinger offshore wind farm and 476MW Baltic Eagle wind farm.

Germany's energy transition road

Iberdrola's Baltic hub has a total investment of approximately 3.5 billion euros, and will have an installed capacity of more than 1.1 GW by 2026, consolidating the company's strategic focus in the Baltic Sea. Iberdrola stated that the German Federal Network Agency confirmed that the project entity Windanker has exercised its right to access the pre-development site.

Iris Stempfle, Managing Director of Iberdrola Renovables Germany, said: “Through Germany’s third offshore wind farm project, Iberdrola emphasizes Germany’s commitment as a strategically important market. Due to the special conditions of the Baltic Sea, the challenges brought by Windanker can be realized on the basis of zero bids. Through synergy with the Baltic hub, we are able to meet these challenges. But before offshore wind energy is fully integrated into the market, we believe that smart transition market design is a necessary way." Iberdrola aims to use advanced wind technology and its experience gained in the Baltic Sea Come to operate Windanker wind farm. The company expects that the East Anglia hub in the UK and other projects in the Baltic Sea in Europe can be constructed at the same time, which may bring more advantages.

In October 2021, Iberdrola announced plans to invest 6 billion pounds to develop 3.1GWEastAngliaHub offshore wind power complex in the North Sea, UK. The Windanker project is expected to be put into operation in 2026. The company intends to allocate most of Windanker's power resources based on long-term power purchase contracts in the German market. Keywords: engineering construction, engineering news

The construction and operation of wind farms will create more employment opportunities. In addition, we have the opportunity to set up a wind power plant in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in the next few years. Basic climate-friendly industry."Editor/XingWentao
