Recently, the Hunan Yiyang Municipal Government, Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group, signed a cooperation framework agreement for the third phase of Chang’an Yiyang Power Plant in Xi’an.

The project has a dynamic investment of 7.255 billion yuan to build two 1 million kilowatt ultra-supercritical secondary reheat coal-fired generating units, and the line is planned to be connected to the 500kV Aijiachong Substation in Ningxiang, Changsha City. After it is completed and put into use, the annual power generation capacity will reach 8 billion kilowatt-hours, which will greatly alleviate the tension in regional power consumption and meet the needs of Yiyang's industrial development and the people's production and living needs.

Chen Jing, deputy secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Acting Mayor, pointed out that in recent years, Yiyang has vigorously implemented the "three highs and four new" strategy, continuously strengthened the construction of energy infrastructure, and strived to build an important energy supply base in Hunan and even the central region. Multiple energy sources such as light, gas and biomass have achieved coordinated development. By the end of 2020, the city has achieved 4.39 million kilowatts of installed capacity, of which thermal power installed capacity is 2.1076 million kilowatts, hydropower installed capacity is 1.347 million kilowatts, and photovoltaic and wind power generation capacity is about 926,600 kilowatts.

Chen Jing said that Yiyang City will use this signing as a new starting point to further intensify cooperation with Shaanxi Coal Group, accelerate provincial approvals, land acquisition and demolition, etc., and do a solid job in the declaration and construction of supporting projects. It is hoped that Shaanxi Coal Group will regard Yiyang as an important area in its business expansion and market layout in Central China and carry out more practical and effective cooperation with Yiyang in areas such as new energy construction. Yiyang will create conditions and build a platform for Shaanxi Coal Group's development in Yiyang with better services, more preferential policies, and a better environment.
