Spanish Minister of Transport, Transport and Urban Agenda Raquel Sanchez Jiménez announced that the last section of the Madrid-Galicia high-speed line, the Pedralbadela Pradera-Ourense railway section, has been completed and passenger service will begin on December 21. Madrid-Galicia High Speed Rail Project

The 119.4-kilometer-long Pedralbadela Praderia–Ourense railway will shorten the travel time between Galicia, the plateau and Madrid, thereby promoting social and economic development across the region. 2.96 billion euros will be invested in the construction of the new railway section, which is a continuation of the Zamora-Pedralba de la Pradria line that opened last year. The last segment will enable the Avril Lavigne train to run along the Madrid-Galicia high-speed line at a commercial speed of 300 km/h, for which the state has provided an investment of 9 billion euros in the past 16 years. The Madrid-Galicia high-speed rail has a total length of 320 kilometers,

On November 16, 2021, Adif launched a tender for the pre-maintenance and maintenance services of part of the infrastructure of Pedralbadela Praderia–Ourense. 68 million euros (including VAT) is the value of the 48-month contract, which will start in 2022 and be executed until 2025. The scope of the contract includes the maintenance and protection of the core components of the infrastructure, including the railway platform, track and track equipment of the Madrid-Galicia railway line Pedralbadela Pradería–Ourense and Ourense–Santiagode Compostela, and the Vigo Urzaiz–Atlantic Axis Coruna part. These railway sections belong to the OIrixo maintenance base and the AMezquita base in the province of Ourense, and their maintenance is also included in the contract.

The contract also includes improvement actions, including minor maintenance work on platforms, road access, fences, tracks, switches, and buildings to improve the reliability of the facility and extend the life of the asset. The Atlantic Axis extends from north to south along the Atlantic coast of Galicia, between Ferrol and the border with Portugal. It is 241 kilometers long and connects five of the seven largest cities in Galicia. The system is connected to the new Madrid-Galicia high-speed line Santiago de Compostela. The entire route along the Atlantic axis between Vigo Urzaiz and A Coruña, with a total length of 155.6 kilometers, has been put into commercial service, greatly saving travel time for all relationships, and at the same time improving comfort by establishing optimal rolling and tracking conditions. Vigo and The distance between A Coruña has been shortened by 21.8 kilometers. In January 2020, the European Commission has approved ERDF to provide 226 million euros in funding for the construction of a high-speed railway from Madrid to Santiago de Compostela in Galicia. The new section is expected to be put into operation in January 2022.Editor/XingWentao
