"As I graduated from high school, I heard that Banpai Industrial Community Education College opened a new major, which not only allows you to learn railway knowledge, but also to study in China." Volavu Psausi still remembers how he decided to deal with railway tracks. ". "I like to explore and try new things, so I decided to study in class."

As the first graduate of the rail transit major jointly cultivated by Banpai Industrial Community Education College of Thailand and Wuhan Railway Vocational and Technical College of China, Volavu’s experience is a vivid story of Sino-Thai cooperation at the micro level.

With the advancement of China-Thailand railway cooperation projects, many vocational colleges in Thailand have carried out extensive and in-depth cooperation with Chinese colleges and universities in the training of professional talents in railways and logistics. The introduction of Chinese technology and curriculum planning not only provides Thailand with a pool of rail transit talents, but also gives young people like Volavu the opportunity to get in touch with China's advanced rail technology.

After studying basic Chinese and professional basic theory courses in Thailand, Volavu and 18 students went to Wuhan Railway Vocational and Technical College for 2 semesters in 2016. "In Wuhan, we not only learned basic railway courses, high-speed rail courses and professional technical Chinese, but also made many Chinese friends, experienced the lives of locals, and took the Chinese high-speed rail." Volavu was interviewed by Xinhua News Agency reporters. Said: "China's high-speed rail is impressive. It makes travel faster, safer and more comfortable."

Through studying in Wuhan, Volavu learned about the development direction of rail transit technology and became more clear about his career plan. His professional background in rail transit and the experience of studying in China made him a hot talent. After graduation, he successfully found a professional-related job.

Zhanya Pappu, consultant of Banpai Industrial Community Education College, said that in recent years, the Thai Ministry of Education has been actively cooperating with Chinese education departments and has successively introduced policies to jointly cultivate technical talents. Banpai Industrial Community Education College and Wuhan Railway Vocational and Technical College jointly established High-speed Railway Luban College in 2019, and also cooperated with many vocational colleges in Guizhou, Yunnan, Chongqing and other places.

In Zhanya's view, the cooperation between Thailand and China in training railway talents fully demonstrates the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative to promote the common development and prosperity of countries along the route. Thanks to the support of Chinese colleges and universities in terms of curriculum, teacher training, teaching equipment, and student joint training, the track professional education and training of Thai vocational colleges has made great progress. In the Banpai Industrial Community Education College, the school has set up simulation equipment for train driving and track repair, so that students can experience actual work scenes in the school.

Zhanya told reporters that Thai railways are relatively short of talents, so the graduates of the college are very popular. He also praised the development of China's rail transportation as a world leader, with many transportation vehicles and complete services. "The exchanges between Thailand and China have always been smooth. The introduction of relevant technologies from China to develop Thailand's rail transit industry has great feasibility, credibility, and high cost performance." Zhanya said that the construction of the China-Thailand railway will benefit the development of the two countries. Thailand's related industries have received technical support from China and other aspects of assistance. He looks forward to the acceleration of the construction of the China-Thailand railway. Volavu has been engaged in rail transit related work after graduation. He said: "I am looking forward to the opening of the China-Thailand Railway, and I very much hope that I will have the opportunity to engage in work related to the China-Thailand Railway in the future."Editor/XuNing
