On the afternoon of November 30, 2021, the groundbreaking ceremony of the first phase of Nanjing Metro Line 11 was officially held at the Nanjing Railway Institute Station of Line 11. The first phase of Metro Line 11 is built along the river and is the aorta of Jiangbei. 9 of the 20 stations on the entire line are transfer stations, which can be called the transfer king of Jiangbei.

The first phase of Nanjing Metro Line 11 runs from southwest to northeast, starting from Maluowei Station in the south and Puzhou Road Station in the north. The total length of the line is about 27km. There are 20 stations on the whole line (including 7 transfer stations). There are 1 elevated station and 19 underground stations. The maximum distance between stations is 3.56km (Maluowei Station to Shitang Road Park Station), the minimum distance between stations is 0.61km (Xinma Road Station to Pudong Road Station), and the average distance between stations is about 1.4km.

There are 1 depot, 1 control center, and 2 main substations across the line. It adopts A-type cars, 6-car formation, and a design speed of 80km/h. The construction period of the project is 5 years.

According to She Caigao, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Nanjing Metro Group, Jiangbei currently has 4 subway lines (Line 3, Line 10, Line S3 and Line S8) with an operating mileage of 82 kilometers. S8 South Extension Line and Line 4 Phase II, a total of 12 kilometers. Today, the construction of Line 11 has begun. After the completion of the first-phase project of Line 11, it will run through Jiangbei area. It will be interchanged with Line 3, Line 4, Line 10, Ninghe Line, and the planned Line 18, which will greatly improve the city of Jiangbei New Area. The level of rail transit network operation is of great strategic significance for promoting the development of urban systems.

It is worth mentioning that the first phase of Metro Line 11 is an important part of the construction of the urban cross-river transportation network.
