On December 9, 2021, under the witness of Xu Shubiao, Deputy General Manager and Party Member of SPIC, Huang Zhichang, Executive Vice President of Shell Group and Chairman of Shell China, SPIC and Shell China signed a strategic cooperation agreement in the form of video conference. The two sides will cooperate in eight areas including clean energy and carbon emission reduction.

According to the agreement, the two parties will follow the principles of “good faith cooperation, mutual benefit, complementary advantages, and common development” to give full play to their own advantages in hydrogen energy, green transportation, carbon trading, liquefied natural gas, carbon capture and storage technology, offshore wind power , Refining and chemical industrial parks to carry out comprehensive strategic cooperation in energy use, power trading, etc., and actively seek cooperation opportunities in the context of the global energy transition and carbon emission reduction, and make efforts to achieve China’s "3060" carbon peak carbon neutral goal contribute.
Xu Shubiao said that SPIC is actively responding to the energy transition in the new era and will build a service-oriented, comprehensive and clean integrated energy service provider. SPIC and Shell Group complement each other's advantages and industries. I believe that through the joint efforts of both parties and pragmatic cooperation, fruitful results will be achieved in a solid and effective manner, promote the high-quality development of both parties, and contribute to the clean development of society and China’s 30- 60' carbon reaches the peak carbon neutral goal to make more contributions.

Huang Zhichang said that he is very much looking forward to implementing specific cooperation content with SPIC in a number of promising business areas, and constantly exploring more and deeper cooperation opportunities to establish a long-term, win-win cooperation relationship. The energy transition cannot be promoted by one company or one industry, so it is necessary to build an ecosystem of upstream and downstream of the industrial chain. Shell hopes to become a supplier of energy products, services and solutions in the ecosystem, and more importantly, to become a low-carbon, leading supplier.
