On December 16, 2021, with the first group of 500-meter long rails being laid into Hangzhou West Railway Station, the Huhang Railway, a key supporting project for the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2022, has officially entered the full track laying stage, and the line is expected to be completed and opened to traffic before the Hangzhou Asian Games.

Huhang Railway

The Huhang Railway departs from the Huzhou Station of the existing Nanjing-Hangzhou High-speed Railway, passes through the South Taihu New District, Wuxing District, Deqing County of Huzhou City, and Yuhang District, Xihu District, Fuyang District and Tonglu County of Hangzhou City. After crossing the Fuchun River, it connects to the Hanghuang High-speed Railway Tonglu Station, the newly-built line is about 137.8 kilometers long, with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

There are 6 stations on the whole line, of which 2 existing stations are used as Huzhou Station and Tonglu Station, 1 of the existing stations is rebuilt as Deqing Station, and 3 newly built stations are Hangzhou West Station, Fuyang West Station and Tonglu East Station. Bridges and tunnels accounted for 91%, with a total investment of about 37.1 billion yuan.

The track laying of the Huhang Railway was undertaken by the Project Department of China Railway Fourth Bureau, with a total track length of 343 kilometers. It is planned to complete the track laying of the entire line before the Spring Festival in 2022. According to Wang Bojun, project manager of the Huhang Railway Laying Division of China Railway Fourth Bureau, in order to overcome the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic and ensure the quality and progress of construction, the construction unit strictly implemented epidemic prevention and control measures and invested in the laying of self-developed ballasted and non-ballasted tracks The integrated track laying unit adopts the construction organization mode of two-way double laying at both ends with Hangzhou West Station as the center, and efficiently promotes the track laying construction, with an average daily track laying length of up to 12 kilometers.

According to reports, the Hubei-Hangzhou Railway is connected to the Nanjing-Hangzhou High-speed Railway, the He-Hangzhou High-speed Railway and the Shanghai-Suhu High-speed Railway under construction in the north, and the Hangzhou-Huangzhou High-speed Railway and the Hangzhou-Wenzhou Railway under construction in the south. After the completion and operation of the Huhang Railway, it will greatly improve the layout of the regional high-speed railway network and promote the economic and social development along the line.
