A few days ago, the reporter learned from the press conference of the Anhui Provincial Government that, from the opening of the first expressway in Anhui Province in 1991 to the opening of expressways in every county today, the mileage of Anhui Province’s expressways to traffic exceeded 5,000 kilometers, and the development of Anhui Province’s expressways. According to Zhang Houzhong, a first-level inspector from the Department of Transportation of Anhui Province, during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the construction of Anhui Province’s highways will focus on connectivity, density, and capacity expansion. The expressway network in the country will realize the “high-speed connection between the county and the city”, which will effectively support the in-depth implementation of national strategies such as the integration of the Yangtze River Delta and the rise of Central China.

By 2025, the total mileage of highways in Anhui Province will reach 6,800 kilometers, and the road network density will reach 4.85 kilometers per 100 square kilometers. The national highways in the country will be fully connected, and the capacity of the main highways will be greatly improved. The passage realizes eight-lane traffic, 42 inter-provincial exits, of which 20 are inter-provincial exits in the Yangtze River Delta. By 2035, the planned total mileage of highways in Anhui Province is 10,165 kilometers, and a "five vertical and ten horizontal" highway network will be formed.
