Vattenfall has awarded the HARCO Heavy Lifting contract in Denmark, which will provide major component replacement services for five offshore wind farms in the UK from 2022 to 2025. The five offshore wind farms are Kentish Flats, Kentish Flats Extension, Thanet, Ormonde and Aberdeen Bay (European Offshore Deployment Center (EOWDC)). The wind farm has a total of 186 turbines with a total capacity of 686.3MW.

HARCO Heavy Lifting began to cooperate with Vattenfall's MCE team for the exchange of main components in 2020, and has been doing the exchange of gearboxes, generators and spindles at Vattenfall's wind farms in the UK, Germany, Sweden and Denmark. The Esbjerg-based company said that based on this cooperation, Huck won a major component exchange contract in the UK for the next three years. "Through this contract, we emphasize that we are focused on becoming the absolute leader in optimizing offshore MCE tasks. To ensure the best synergy between us and Vattenfall, HARCO is currently establishing a HARCO entity in the UK. This will take 4-6 months. Time to implement, but we believe this will enable us to support our customers better than we do now," said Henrik Harkes, CEO of HARCO Heavy Lifting. The scope of work is the replacement of gearboxes, generators, main shafts, and blades. In addition, Harker will provide hand tools, special tools and hydraulic tools for all parts replacement.
