On December 22, 2021, the "First China-Jordan Friendship Dialogue-A Hundred Years Opportunity: Building the Belt and Road Initiative and Jordan’s ‘2025 Vision’ Cloud Forum" was held in Beijing. The event was sponsored by the China Foreign Languages Bureau and Beijing Foreign Studies University, organized by Xufang International Media, Beijing Foreign Studies University Arab College, and supported by SDIC Mining Co., Ltd. The event invites experts, scholars, and industry representatives in the economic, trade, and humanities fields of the two countries to conduct cloud-based dialogues to jointly facilitate exchanges and cooperation between China and Jordan.

SDIC Chairman Bai Tao attended and delivered a speech, Deputy General Manager Zhong Guodong attended and participated in the book donation ceremony, Hussam AGAl Husseini, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to China, and the Chinese Embassy in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Ambassador Chen Chuandong, Director of the China Foreign Languages Bureau Du Zhanyuan, Beijing Foreign Studies University President Yang Dan, Chairman of the China-Africa Government Cultural Cooperation Committee Samir Habashneh, and Chairman of the Jordan Arab Potash Corporation (APC) Shahad Abu Ha More than 20 guests including Shehadah Abu Hdaib, the former special envoy of the Chinese government on the Middle East issues of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Wu Sike, and Bilal Al Hammouri, Director of the Investment Promotion Department of the Ministry of Investment of Jordan participated in the dialogue online and offline meeting.

2021 is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and also the 100th anniversary of the founding of Jordan. This dialogue will organize a cloud dialogue between Chinese and Jordanian partners to analyze the international situation, share cooperation experiences, deepen civilized exchanges, and enhance mutual trust in the industry, injecting new momentum for the two countries to build a mutually beneficial, win-win, and prosperous China-Jordan relationship on a new century-old starting point.

Before the event, Bai Tao had talks and exchanges with Husam Husseini, Du Zhanyuan, and Yang Dan, and introduced the development of SDIC. Ambassador Husam Husseini highly praised SDIC's contribution to the economic and trade development and cultural exchanges between China and Jordan, and presented the national emblem commemorative plate.

In his speech, Bai Tao stated that, as China’s leading large-scale comprehensive investment holding company with diversified businesses, SDIC has created an international business development model focusing on overseas direct investment, international engineering contracting, and international trade. More than 1,600 projects have been invested and constructed in more than 100 countries and regions around the world. He focused on the acquisition of approximately 28% of Arab Potash Corporation (APC) by SDIC Mining in 2018. After becoming the largest shareholder of APC, he supported APC to promote innovation, improve management, tap the expansion potential, and promote the steady improvement of corporate efficiency. Bai Tao deeply recalled the touching story of mutual assistance between SDIC and APC since the outbreak of the new crown epidemic. APC donated N95 masks and other anti-epidemic materials to SDIC as soon as the domestic supply of related materials was tight. SDIC has also donated more than 3 million yuan of medical anti-epidemic materials to the Jordanian government and local communities twice, and supported APC to donate more than 30 million U.S. dollars to the Jordanian government for epidemic prevention and control. SDIC is willing to become a "reliable partner" and "a friendly cultural messenger" in the future development of China and Jordan.

The Jordanian ambassador to China Husam Husseini said in his speech at the conference that in the predicament brought about by the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the mutual assistance of the two peoples has greatly encouraged each other. Jordan is the intersection of the land-based Silk Road Economic Belt and the Maritime Silk Road in the "One Belt, One Road" initiative proposed by China. It is a model country for peace and stability in the Middle East, with a good investment environment and high-quality human resources. Chinese companies have already cooperated with Jordanian companies in the fields of traditional energy, renewable energy, clothing, electronic products, and information technology. The bilateral trade volume exceeds RMB 20 billion. The Jordanian government will strongly support companies from various countries, especially Chinese companies, to cooperate with Jordan. . The youth of China and Jordan have also become important bridges for enhancing the exchanges and interactions between the two civilizations. There are a large number of overseas students studying in each other’s universities. It is hoped that the two countries will join hands and plan the future development path together.

Chen Chuandong, Chinese Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, pointed out in his speech at the conference that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Jordan in 1977, bilateral relations have continued to develop in a healthy and stable manner, with active exchanges at all levels and in various fields, and fruitful results of practical cooperation. China has become Jordan's third largest trading partner and second largest source of imports. The two sides should consolidate political mutual trust, strengthen strategic communication, and continue to provide firm support to each other on issues involving each other’s core interests; highlight complementary advantages, enhance mutual benefit and win-win results, and deepen energy, communications, transportation, agriculture, green economy, digital economy, and smart manufacturing Cooperation in other fields; strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, promote people-to-people bonds, and jointly resist civilizational “superiority” and institutional “phobias”; expand cooperation platforms, build a China-Arab community of shared future, and be the defender of peace and stability in the Middle East, defender of fairness and justice, Promoters of common development, good friends of mutual learning and mutual learning.

Du Zhanyuan, director of the China Foreign Languages Bureau, pointed out in his speech at the conference that in today's complex situation where a century of change is intertwined with the epidemic of the century, seeking cooperation and development has become the common aspiration of all countries in the world, including China and Jordan. Yang Dan, president of Beijing Foreign Studies University, said in his speech that the holding of the China-Jordan Friendship Dialogue is of great significance to both China and Jordan on their journey towards the second century. The topic setting of the Dialogue covered multiple levels, which fully demonstrated that since the “Belt and Road” initiative was put forward, China and Jordan have moved from strategic drawing to broad resonance, from grand blueprints to specific projects, mutual learning, mutual learning, and mutual consultation. Semir Habashner, Chairman of the Commission for Cultural Cooperation between the China-Africa Governments of Jordan, highly praised China's achievements in realizing development, improving people's livelihood, alleviating poverty and reducing poverty. Semir Habashner pointed out that Jordan’s sustainable development cannot be separated from the long-term support of friendly countries represented by China, and Jordan’s own development has also benefited its friendly countries. It is hoped that in the future the educational cooperation between the two countries will be further enhanced and the interaction between teachers and students of the two countries will be promoted, especially in the areas of teaching methods, textbook compilation, and scientific research.

Shahad Abu Hadib, chairman of the Arab Potash Corporation (APC) in Jordan, pointed out that China and Jordan have formed a partnership to jointly tackle issues such as food security and other issues for all mankind. The large-scale trade exchanges between Jordan and China, especially in the field of fertilizers, clearly prove that the cooperation between the two countries can be regarded as an outstanding model of economic relations. Based on this, Arab Potash Corporation is committed to achieving global food security and sustainability in the field of renewable energy.

Wu Sike, the former special envoy of the Chinese government on the Middle East issue of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, believes that the relationship between China and Jordan is a model of relations between countries with different systems and different cultures. Both sides uphold the concept of respecting the diversity of civilizations, use the ancient Silk Road as a link, strengthen exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations, and expand cooperation in aerospace technology, digital economy, new energy construction and other fields on the basis of traditional cooperation, showing vigorous vitality . He encouraged young Chinese and Jordanian students to actively participate in China-Jordan friendship and realize their ideal values in the common development and progress of the two countries. Bilal Ham, Director of the Promotion Department of the Ministry of Investment of Jordan mentioned in his speech that the two countries have a high level of cooperation in the economic and investment fields. The dialogue also held two round tables. At the round table "Pragmatic Cooperation and Win-Win: Practical Cases of China-Jordan Economic and Trade Cooperation", guests from Chinese and foreign business circles conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges based on the practice and experience of their institutions in developing cooperative projects and fulfilling social responsibilities in target countries. During the dialogue, Deng Hua, chairman of SDIC Mining Investment Co., Ltd., introduced the four aspects of "respect for each other, compliant operation, complementary advantages, and enhanced friendship". For more than three years, SDIC Mining and APC have worked together to overcome the epidemic.
