Adani Transmission (ATL) has won contracts for two projects with a total value of US$200 million to provide connections for important renewable energy projects in the Indian states of Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. The transmission company has won a contract for the 400kV Karur transmission project in Tamil Nadu with a capital expenditure of Rs 2 billion. According to the contract, Adani Transmission will build a 2x500MVA, 400/230kV Karur storage station, located between the Kaur Wind Energy District and Tiruppur Wind Energy District.
ATL expects that the project will help evacuate renewable energy from the Karur-Tiruppur area. Anil Sardana, Managing Director and CEO of Adani Transmission, said: “This new project will be ATL’s first ISTS project in Tamil Nadu, which will enable us to contribute to the development of the national transmission infrastructure for the evacuation of renewable energy. A major contribution.” In addition, ATL also won a contract for the Khavda-Bhuj project, which is part of the country’s largest renewable evacuation system.
According to this contract, ATL will build approximately 220 kilometers of power transmission lines, which will connect the Khavda catchment station and Bhuj catchment station, as well as the 4,500MVA, 765kV gas-insulated substation in Khavda. The capital expenditure of the KhavdaBhuj project is 159.6 million U.S. dollars (12 billion rupees) and is expected to help withdraw approximately 3GW of clean energy from Khavda. The project is expected to become one of the largest renewable energy centers with an installed capacity of 30,000 MW. Sardana said: “We are delighted to be associated with the first evacuation system related to one of the largest renewable energy centers established in Khavda, Gujarat. “This project will be the first of the massive transmission projects planned by the Indian government to evacuate renewable energy from the region. An implementation project. ATL is already a leader in the construction of transmission infrastructure in the private sector, and this project will further strengthen our influence in Gujarat. ATL will build, own, operate and maintain these two projects within 35 years. The company stated that these two contracts mark a step forward in achieving the goal of establishing a 20,000 g-ton-kilometer transmission line by 2022. This work will also enable the company to contribute to the government's goal of achieving "power for all" by 2022. In addition, fuel retailer Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) and Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) signed a memorandum of understanding to develop 10GW of renewable energy capacity by 2040. This will enable the two companies to jointly seek opportunities in the field of renewable energy, including solar, electric vehicles, wind, hydrogen and waste-to-energy. The two companies initially planned to install a 1GW renewable energy portfolio by 2025.Editor/XingWentao
