Uzbekistan GTL, a plant that uses natural gas as a raw material to produce liquid synthetic fuels, was completed on the 25th in the Guzal District of Kashkadaria Region, Uzbekistan. Uzbek President Mirziyoyev arrived at the site to attend the inauguration ceremony and visited the complex facilities of the factory, familiar with the technological process, and communicated with the staff.

It is reported that the factory will start full operation on March 1, 2022. The factory is equipped with more than 10,000 equipment produced by about 130 leading companies in 24 countries including China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the United States, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Russia. It has obtained 140 international licenses and patents in the use of technical solutions, equipment and processes.

Mirziyoyev said: "On New Year's Eve, we witnessed a major event, which opened another glorious page in the history of my country’s industrial development. The construction of such a large complex has promoted the development of domestic industries in recent years. The direct result of the policy of development at a new level." The project cost 3.42 billion U.S. dollars, and the project's investment payback period is estimated to be 7 years. Funds came from China Development Bank (CDB), Korea Export-Import Bank (KEXIM), Korea Trade Insurance Corporation (K-SURE), Gazprom Corporation, Rosen Bank Corporation, Russian Export Credit Insurance Agency, Credit Suisse, Mitsubishi Tokyo UFJ, Mizuho, Woori Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui (SMBC) and many other financial institutions.

The general contractors for the construction of the project are Korea Hyundai Engineering Company, Korea Hyundai Engineering Construction Company, and Singapore Enter Engineering Pte Ltd. The factory covers an area of 135 hectares. During the construction process that lasted for several years, more than 13,000 Uzbek domestic and foreign experts participated in it. So far, there are only 4 such high-tech factories in the world, in Qatar, Nigeria, South Africa and Malaysia. Uzbekistan's GTL is the fifth. The plant can process 3.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas each year, and produce 307,000 tons of aviation kerosene, 724,000 tons of diesel, 437,000 tons of naphtha, and 53,000 tons of liquefied gas. It needs to be pointed out that the plant can supply power independently, and can also supply power to other enterprises or households. The remaining steam generated during the production process can generate 650 million kilowatt-hours of electricity. "The complex was built on the basis of investment, and now the most important thing is to benefit from the start-up enterprises. We have sold natural gas for so many years and have not made any money. We will increase our products through these factories equipped with powerful equipment. Added value." said the president. With the commissioning of the plant, it will supply up to 1.5 million tons of high-quality environmentally friendly oil to the domestic market every year. It can produce more than 1 billion U.S. dollars of petrochemical imported substitute products every year. Mirziyoyev emphasized that the world today is actively moving towards a "green" economy. The new factory fully complies with this trend, and the factory's products fully comply with the highest international environmental protection requirements, norms and standards. When using GTL fuel, the emissions of harmful substances will be 40% less than when using traditional fuels, which will prevent the discharge of 13,500 tons of harmful substances into the atmosphere every year.Editor/XingWentao
