Recently, Shenzhen Luotian Reservoir-Tiegang Reservoir water conveyance tunnel project officially started construction.
According to reports, the Luotian Reservoir-Tiegang Reservoir water conveyance tunnel project is a large-scale water conservancy project, and the entire project is located in the Baoan District and Guangming District in the west of Shenzhen. The main task is to rationally distribute and use the water from the Xijiang River within Shenzhen to achieve the optimal allocation of newly added overseas water.
The Luotian Reservoir-Tiegang Reservoir water conveyance tunnel project has a total length of 21.67km and a water conveyance scale of 2.6 million cubic meters per day. The total investment of the project is 5.802.3 billion yuan and the construction period is 36 months. It is planned to be completed by the end of 2024.
The project is an important part of Shenzhen’s efforts to build a century-old water supply guarantee project for the socialist pilot demonstration zone and the Pearl River Delta water resources allocation project. After completion, the water supply will cover 584 square kilometers of land in Bao'an District and Nanshan District, serve 6.28 million permanent residents, and support Shenzhen’s 1 trillion yuan GDP. By then, the optimal allocation of water resources in Shenzhen will be realized and the current Shenzhen will be effectively resolved. Due to the shortage of water supply in the city, a double guarantee system for the water supply of the East and the West has been formed to help the efficient development of the regional economy.
