A few days ago, the Three Gorges Construction Engineering Zhejiang Tiantai Pumped Storage Power Station construction mobilization meeting was held at the power station construction site, which marked the official launch of the world's highest rated head pumped storage power station construction project. According to reports, this is another important action taken by CTG to fully serve the country's clean energy development, steadily promote green and low-carbon transformation of energy, and help achieve the goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality".

The Tiantai Pumped Storage Power Station is located in Tantou Town and Yongxi Township, Tiantai County, Zhejiang Province. The first pumped storage power station to start construction. The power station plans to install 4 reversible hydro-generator units with a single unit capacity of 425,000 kilowatts, with a total installed capacity of 1.7 million kilowatts. The power station consists of upper reservoir, lower reservoir, water delivery system, underground powerhouse, sand dam and other buildings.

The rated water head of the Tiantai pumped storage power station is 724 meters, which is the highest pumped storage power station in the world; the single unit capacity is 425,000 kilowatts, ranking first in the domestic pumped storage power station; the length of the upward and downward inclined shafts is 483.4 meters, ranking first in the country; the construction of the power station It is expected to greatly improve the design, construction and operation level of China's pumped storage industry.

After the completion of Zhejiang Tiantai Pumped Storage Power Station, it will mainly undertake the tasks of peak regulation, valley filling, frequency regulation, phase regulation, energy storage and emergency backup of Zhejiang Power Grid, and provide flexible dispatching capabilities for East China Power Grid. It is estimated that the annual power generation will be 1.7 billion kWh, which can save about 520,000 tons of coal consumption in the power system of Zhejiang Power Grid and reduce about 1.04 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
