The construction of a strong country takes the first step in transportation. In order to meet the growing demand for transportation, the fifth session of the 15th Beijing Municipal People's Congress officially opened on January 6. Mayor Chen Jining delivered a government work report. The government work report stated that in 2022, Beijing will formulate the construction plan for the third phase of rail transit. At the same time, the convenience of connecting and transferring between ground bus and rail transit will be improved.

According to the news previously announced by the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, in 2022, Beijing will accelerate the construction of 9 lines including the first phase of Line 3 and Line 12. Among them, the first phase of Changping Line's southern extension and the southern section of Line 16 will be put into operation. The operating mileage was increased by about 25.6 kilometers. The southern extension of the Changping Line passes through important functional areas, residential areas and colleges and universities in the northern region such as Xierqi, Qinghe, Taipingzhuang and Xueyuan Road. The southern extension of the Changping Line is 12.6 kilometers long, all of which are underground lines. There are 9 stations along the way, including 5 transfer stations. Qinghe Station can transfer to Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-speed Railway, Line 13, Line 19 Branch; Shangqingqiao Station can transfer to Line 19; Liudaokou Station can transfer to Line 15; Xitucheng Station can transfer to Line 10; Ji You can transfer to Line 12 at Menqiao Station.

At the end of 2021, Qinghe Station on the southern extension of Changping Line has been opened, effectively sharing the transfer pressure at Xierqi Station. Line 16 is a north-south line in the western part of Beijing city, passing through Fengtai, Xicheng, and Haidian administrative districts. Line 16 is opened in sections. The northern section of Line 16 (Beian River to Xiyuan section) is 20 kilometers long, and 10 stations have been opened at the end of 2016.

At the end of 2022, the southern section of Line 16 will be opened. However, according to the previously announced information, the new Yushuzhuang North Station is currently undergoing preliminary work and has not yet started construction. It will be difficult to complete the station structure before the end of 2022. It may affect the opening of the section between Yushuzhuang North Station and Wanpingcheng Station.
