Alstom and Norske Tog signed a framework contract worth 1.8 billion euros, allowing for the supply of up to 200 Coradia Nordic regional trains, with a firm order for 30 trains worth 380 million euros. The first 30 trains will run on the Østfold line. The announcement follows Norske Tog's announcement on 17 December 2021 that the company will acquire six EMUs from Alstom.
Production of the new "Class 77" regional trains for the new Norske Tog will begin in 2023, with the first trains entering the testing phase in 2024. They are expected to begin commercial operations in 2025. Once operational, the new fleet will start operating as a suburban and fast rail service, connecting Ski and Stabekk in the Greater Oslo region. “We look forward to being able to provide our commuters with increased capacity, comfort and mobility coverage,” said Øystein Risan, Managing Director of Norske Tog.
These trains are designed to have a top speed of 160 km/h, ensuring a fast and comfortable commute in a spacious and relaxing environment. Each single-deck trainset can hold 778 passengers, 40% higher than the capacity of the trains they will replace. The new trains will be equipped with the latest ETCSBaseline 3 Release 2 signaling system. The system will feature a world-first advanced odometer solution designed for the harshest winter conditions. Keywords: engineering construction, engineering news
The Coradia Nordic is an advanced, low-floor, highly versatile range of electric multi-unit trains designed to meet the needs of regional and intercity transport in the Nordic countries. To date, nearly 300 Coradia Nordic trains have been delivered to customers in the Nordic countries. The modular design allows operators to choose the configuration and interior that best suits their market and business strategy. In addition, Alstom's sustainable service approach takes into account the entire life cycle of a product, from initial design to end of life cycle, which maximizes the value of Norske Tog's assets.Editor/XingWentao
