Oman-based integrated energy company OQGroup said it will open a new liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) plant in Salalah on January 16, 2022. The project was designed and constructed to the highest technical and safety standards. Considered an important future project in Oman, it is dedicated to processing natural gas liquids (NGLs) extracted from the natural gas network into LPG, the report added.
The $824 million plant has several components, notably a facility to extract rich gaseous elements such as propane, butane and condensate from natural gas, as well as a fractionation plant, storage tanks, transportation facilities and interconnections Pipeline system. The facility can process approximately 8 million standard cubic meters of lean gas per day and produce approximately 304 kilotons of LPG per year, including 155 kilotons of propane (C3), 111 kilotons of butane (C4) and 38 kilotons of condensate per year (C5+). The report noted that the project made an important contribution to the local economy during the construction phase. In line with its Domestic Value (ICV) development strategy, the Oman Group awarded contracts worth around 100 million rupiah to local suppliers and service providers, benefiting more than 150 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).Editor/XingWentao
