On January 12, 2022, the National Development and Reform Commission officially issued a document approving the feasibility study report on the new Tianjin-Weifang high-speed railway. This means that the project is officially approved and has entered the substantive implementation stage.
Tianjin-Weihai high-speed railway
The Tianjin-Weifang high-speed railway is a common component of the Beijing-Shanghai and coastal high-speed railway corridors planned for the medium and long-term railway network, and forms a high-speed rail corridor around the southern coast of the Bohai Sea with the Weiyan high-speed railway under construction. According to the approval of the National Development and Reform Commission, the line starts from Binhai Station of the Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway Extension Line, passes through Tianjin Binhai New Area, Cangzhou City, Hebei Province, Binzhou City, Dongying City, Weifang City, Shandong Province, and ends at Weifang North Station of Jinan-Qingdao High-speed Railway. About 348.9 kilometers, there are 10 stations on the whole line. The design speed is 350 km/h.
In order to achieve railway interconnection, the project will also simultaneously build a 150.7-kilometer connecting line from Jinan-Weihai high-speed railway to Jinan, and a total of about 33 kilometers of connecting lines to Tianjin-Qindao high-speed railway, Jingbin Intercity Railway, and Jinan-Qingdao high-speed railway. Newly built Binhai West Railway Station, Dongying South Railway Station, Weifang North Railway Station and other parking yards. The total investment of the project is 114.54 billion yuan, and the construction period is 5 years.
In the future, after the Tianjin-Weihai high-speed railway is completed and opened to traffic, it will speed up the construction of an auxiliary channel for the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway and greatly improve the regional railway network. Editor/He Yuting
