On January 27, 2022, Indonesia time, POWERCHINA Asia Pacific Regional Headquarters and the Indonesian Ministry of Public Works and Housing signed a commercial contract for the 1C bid section of the Semarang-Demark Seawall Expressway in Indonesia. According to reports, this is another key economic and trade cooperation project between China and Indonesia that POWERCHINA has won in Indonesia following the Jatiged Dam and Pangkalan Susu thermal power station projects in Indonesia. Guo Xiaodan, general manager of the Marketing Department of the company's Asia-Pacific regional headquarters and Indonesian country representative, attended the signing ceremony as a representative of the project joint venture and signed the contract on behalf of the company.
The Indonesia Semarang-Demark Seawall Highway Project is located in Semarang City, Central Java, Indonesia, with a total length of 10.54 kilometers, integrating transportation and flood control functions. The joint venture of POWERCHINA and Indonesia ADHI Company won the bid for Section C of the project. The main construction contents of the project include dredging of two reservoirs, 1.5-kilometer river treatment, civil construction and equipment installation of two pumping stations, maintenance of sheet piles around the reservoir and other ancillary facilities.
The project adopts Chinese preferential buyer's credit funds. It is a key project of China's Belt and Road Initiative and a strategic project conceived by Indonesia's global marine fulcrum. After the project is completed, it will become the first seawall expressway in Indonesia, and will greatly improve the Java Island Expressway. The highway network improves the efficiency of logistics and transportation, and completely alleviates the perennial flooding and seawater intrusion in the northeast area of Semarang.
