The Xianghe Water Control Project and its supporting irrigation area project is one of the 172 major water conservancy projects identified by the State Council. Construction started in April 2019 and is expected to be completed in December 2022. Like the Xianghe Water Conservancy Project and the supporting irrigation area projects, the construction of major water conservancy projects such as Datang Gorge in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Maiwan and Tianjiaotan in Hainan Province is also continuing during the Spring Festival holiday.

The relevant person in charge of the Planning and Planning Department of the Ministry of Water Resources said that of the 172 major water conservancy projects implemented in 2014, a total of 149 projects have been started, 49 projects have been completed, and 19 projects have been completed and accepted. Among them, major water conservancy projects such as the diversion of the Yangtze River to the Huaihe River, the water diversion in the middle of Yunnan, and the Datangxia Water Control Project are under construction.

At the same time, the construction of 150 major water conservancy projects determined by the State Council in 2020 and the follow-up is also accelerated, including five types of projects such as flood control and disaster reduction, optimal allocation of water resources, irrigation and water conservation and water supply, water ecological protection and restoration, and smart water conservancy.

On the construction site of the Guanzhou section and Yong'an embankment section of the Jiangxi section of the main stream of the Yangtze River, the construction site of the emergency treatment project for bank collapse, the builders who did not stop work during the Spring Festival continued to work ecstatically. The emergency treatment project for bank collapse in the Jiangxi section of the main stream of the Yangtze River, which started in November 2021, is one of 150 major water conservancy projects. As of the end of 2021, 67 of the 150 major water conservancy projects have been approved and 62 have started.
