Swedish state-owned power company Vattenfall has announced that its proposed 1.8GW Norfolk Pioneer offshore wind farm has received planning approval from the UK government. The company has now secured two projects for its proposed Norfolk offshore wind farm, following government approval for the Norfolk Boreas project in December 2021.

Danielle Lane, UK Country Manager for Vattenfall, said: “Today is an important step forward for a project that will help unlock the enormous potential of offshore wind in the UK. “We ensure that these projects bring real, lasting benefits to the east of England. , providing employment, supply chain and skills investments throughout construction and operations. “We will now be working more closely with the local community as we begin to move the project into construction. “This will include field preparations, but will also work with our local partners to ensure our plans are absolutely right to maximize the benefits to the region. The two projects will also support the UK government's plan to install 40GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030.
