The prosperous new century was the apex of the development of the Tang Dynasty, but the crisis of human nature was hidden under the prosperous. Tang Xuanzong was trapped in peace for a long time, and gradually lost the spirit of enterprising and striving. In his eyes, apart from the prosperity of the prosperous age, he could not see anything else. Regardless of loyal ministers or good words, Xuanzong was already stupid.

Zhang Jiuling was the prime minister of the dynasty, but he had a spirit of eunuch, and he dared to speak out for the benefit of Tang. However, Xuanzong who lived in the dream of the flourishing age wanted not to speak outright, but to agree with himself. Xuanzong didn't like Zhang Jiuling's uprightness, so he used Li Linfu to restrain him.

Xuanzong loves Wu Huifei, who is not a fuel-efficient lamp. For the sake of her son's birthday, Li Hui, Prince Wu Hui could become a prince, so the crown prince Li Ying, E Wang Yao, and Guang Wang Hui mixed together all day, privately speaking Xuanzong's bad words and venting his dissatisfaction. When Xuanzong was blown by the wind on his pillow, he suddenly became furious and decided to abolish the prince. At this point Zhang Jiuling immediately stood up and prevented Xuanzong from abolishing the prince. He believes that the safety of the community should be the top priority, and the prince must not be abolished easily. At this time, Xuanzong had to suppress his dissatisfaction with Zhang Jiuling. He wanted to dismiss Zhang Jiuling, but he couldn't do it easily.

Soon after, Xuanzong seized the opportunity. In order to save the former wife's husband, Wang Yuanzhang, Yan Tingzhi asked for gifts and courtships, and was suspected of violating the law of Tang. Zhang Jiuling tried to protect himself, and Xuanzong fired Zhang Jiuling as the prime minister. Although Zhang Jiuling was dismissed, he also served as the right-hand prime minister in North Korea. So Xuanzong once again deposed Zhang Jiuling from Chang'an City on the grounds that Zhang Jiuling had introduced the criminal Zhou Zhouli.

Zhang Jiuling died of illness three years later. Immediately afterwards, the Anshi Rebellion erupted, and the heyday collapsed. Xuanzong, who was fleeing from Changan, then remembered a blunt statement from Zhang Jiuling.

When An Lushan came to visit Beijing, Zhang Jiuling said: "Those who are in trouble with the state must be also Hu." So he did not hesitate to write to Xuanzong and asked the court to decapitate Anlu Mountain. Xuanzong released Anlu Mountain in order to show Huang En's grace. This release pushed the prosperous world into the sword mountain fire mouth, and Xuanzong regretted not listening to Zhang Jiuling's outspoken words.

But that's all for now, what's the use of regret? One thing Xuanzong didn't know was that Zhang Jiuling had already prepared a back road for Datang. It is precisely because of the road prepared by Zhang Jiuling that Datang can continue to live for a hundred years.

Geographically, Lingnan is the general name of the area south of Wuling in the south of China. Wuling is composed of Yuecheng Ridge, Dupong Ridge, Mengjing Ridge, Qitian Ridge, and Datong Ridge. The area south of Wuling is generally distributed at the junction of eastern Guangxi to eastern Guangdong and Hunan and Jiangxi provinces. The administrative Lingnan belongs to the Lingnan Road in the Tang Dynasty administrative region, which is equivalent to today's Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan and Vietnam's Red River Delta.

Lingnan has been a wild place since ancient times. However, during the Tang Dynasty, Lingnan coastal areas have become an important window for foreign trade. There are two reasons for this phenomenon: one is that the domestic economic center of gravity has gradually moved south; the other is that the shipbuilding and navigation technology of the Tang Dynasty provided merchants with a stable platform for cross-sea trade.

For the local economy of any place, it is by no means a closed loop, but a complex complex formed by multiple regions and people. The development of Lingnan's foreign trade economy also indirectly stimulated the development of many other regions in the Tang Dynasty. For example, silk and tea from other places, many merchants at that time were going to the sea through Lingnan.

However, at that time, the merchants of the Tang Dynasty wanted to go to the sea through Lingnan, but the process was very complicated. Businessmen can only choose the route from Guijiang to Xijiang via Lingqu to Lingnan. The other route is to enter Shaoguan along the Beijiang River, enter Lushui, and then turn over to Lingling Road. The previous route took a large bend into Lingnan, and the latter route was shorter. But because Dalingling Road has not been developed and there are cliffs and rough terrain, no one will choose Dalingling Road.

In the fall of the first four years of Kaiyuan, Zhang Jiuling was convicted of bluntness. So he resigned and went home and returned to Lingnan. He had been in and out of Dalingling Road, and he knew the hardships well. In addition, the interchange of North and South had a good role in leading the economy of the Tang Dynasty.

The court approved Zhang Jiuling's request and gave him full authority to handle the matter. Zhang Jiuling gets up early every morning to explore the geographical conditions of Dalingling Road and plan the location of road construction. After a long period of hard work, a road nearly 20 kilometers long and more than ten meters wide was completed. Since then, businessmen and people of all walks of life no longer have to go around a big bend to enter Lingnan, this is also the first time that Lingnan is truly integrated with the Central Plains.

During the Anshi rebellion, wars in the Central Plains raged. Countless businessmen and exiles entered Lingnan through the Datong Ridge Road. They brought a lot of wealth and labor to Lingnan, and brought Lingnan's development to a new level.

After the Anshi Rebellion ended, the rule of the Tang Dynasty was in an extremely embarrassing situation: the development of the country required money, but the Tang Dynasty's treasury had little left. Taxation is the main source of state finance, but who can the central government of Tang Dynasty ask for money?

Most of the northern part of the country was separatist, and the imperial power imposed very little restraint on them. They chose not to pay taxes. However, most parts of the South were affected by the Anshi Rebellion, and people were having trouble living, and these areas had very few taxes.

No money in the country, what about the foreign economy? The Silk Road on land was the economic lifeline of the Tang Dynasty and other dynasties, and it could bring a lot of funds to the Tang Dynasty government. However, the outbreak of the Anshi Rebellion blocked the land Silk Road and the trade between the Northwest Silk Road was declining.

A rule without financial support, like a time bomb, can explode at any time. Fortunately, Lingnan's economy lifted the threat of an explosion. Lingnan's foreign trade has accumulated a lot of wealth, but Lingnan has been less affected by the Anshi Rebellion. So the life-sustaining materials were transported from the Datong Ancient Road to the central Tang Dynasty.

These materials were not the taxes that Lingnan handed over to the government of the Tang Dynasty, but "advance" to the emperor. All rulers have one thing in common: accounting is particularly clear. If these materials are turned in as taxes, they will cause riots in the Lingnan people. After all, these materials are not a small amount, and the people will feel that the rulers levy heavy taxes, which will cause the Lingnan people to be dissatisfied with the rulers of the Tang Dynasty.

These materials can not be recorded in the state treasury, because the Tang dynasty that experienced the An Shi chaos needed money everywhere. If these materials go to the national treasury, the distribution of materials between the two countries will arguably endlessly provoke turmoil in the DPRK, which will undoubtedly worsen the already unstable Tang government.

Therefore, these materials can only enter the pockets of the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty under the name of "Jin Feng". The Emperor was using it at his discretion. Tang Xianzong used these funds as military expenses. All in all, the Tang Dynasty rulers of the Anshi Rebellion relied on the materials that Lingnan worshiped from the Datuoling Road to have their own life-sustaining capital.

When Tang Xuanzong faced the problem of promoting officials, he often used to ask the recommended officials a question: "How is the grace compared to Zhang Jiuling?" Isn't this Xuanzong's remorse for Zhang Jiuling?

The Dalingling New Road is the life road of Lingnan's economic, cultural and social development. The Japanese sinologist Nakamura Kushiro once praised: "Zhang Jiuling's excavation of a new road is to open the north-south throat, that is, to open the Nanxiong Ridge, a major town in the north of Guangdong. Foreign trade is facilitated. " Editor / Zhao Yongjing
