Adjustment of wharf construction in the port area of Lek County, Vietnam

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh has just issued Decision No. 186/QĐ-TTg, approving the adjustment of the Prime Minister’s decision on March 4, 2021 on the construction of the 5th and 6th piers in the port area of Gang Lek, Haiphong. Decision 299/QĐ-TTg. The scale-up of the project is aimed at improving the port's operational efficiency and competitiveness with international ports in the region.
Decision No. 186/QĐ-TTg stated that the scale of the project has increased from the previous two piers with a total length of 750 meters (each pier up to 375 meters), and the reliable berthing of container ships with a load of 100,000 DWT (equivalent to 8,000 Teus); A barge wharf, which can receive 48 TEUS ships; port protection works, storage systems, port logistics infrastructure, ship stop areas and public navigation channels connecting Lixian International Port. The land area used is 47 hectares, etc., which is now adjusted to two The total length of each wharf is 900 meters (each wharf is 450 meters long), and container ships with a load of 12,000 or 18,000 Teus can be reliably berthed; a barge wharf with a width of 100 meters can reliably berth ships with a load of 160 TEUS; Storage system, port logistics infrastructure, ship stop area and public navigation channel connecting Lixian International Port, with a land area of 58.4 hectares.
The total investment of the project is from 6.425 trillion VND, divided into two phases, the first phase (2020-2025) is 6.072 trillion VND, and the second phase (2030 and after 2030) is 352.2 billion VND adjusted as investment The total amount is VND 8.951 trillion, divided into two phases, the first phase (2020-2025) is VND 8.339 trillion, and the second phase (from 2030) is VND 611.4 billion. The rest of decision 299/QĐ-TTg remains unchanged.
Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh requested that the Hai Phong Municipal People's Committee instruct investors to improve projects in accordance with the opinions of the Ministry of Planning and Investment and relevant ministries; carry out implementation projects in accordance with existing laws and regulations.
