Swedish wind farm developer OX2 has submitted a permit application to build the 1.8GW Triton offshore wind farm within the Swedish economic zone and off the coast of Skåne. Located about 30 kilometers south of Ustad, the wind farm will contain up to 129 wind turbines with a maximum height of 370 meters.

OX2 said that when built to full capacity, the Triton offshore wind farm would generate 7.5TWh of electricity per year, enough to meet the needs of about 1.5 million homes. Back in December, OX2 submitted an application for a Natura 2000 license for the Triton wind farm.

"I'm delighted that we have taken the next step in the development of Triton. The wind farm will be built with bottom-fixed structures, which is a proven technology. This will reduce construction time. When completed, the wind farm will provide southern Sweden with additional electricity and contribute to Sweden achieving its ambitious climate goals," said OX2 Country Manager Hillevi Priscar. OX2 has also recently submitted a permit application and a Natura 2000 application for the Galatea-Galene offshore wind farm. The project will include 101 turbines divided into two areas: Galatea, about 25 kilometers from Falkenberg, and Galene, about 25 kilometers from Varberg. Earlier this month, the Swedish government began searching for new sea areas to support the country's new plan to produce up to 120 terawatt-hours of offshore wind a year.Editor/XingWentao
